Story Behind The Song
While technically I've been in "management" at a few jobs, I always related more to the guys and ladies who forge ahead day after day, succeeding oftentimes IN SPITE of the bosses, not because of them. I wanted to create a We Will Rock You type sing-along anthem for the faceless and nameless workers.
Song Description
This is a Rock/Funk/Country hybrid anthem for all the grunts and worker-bees of the world, with great syncopation and unexpected twists. You'll even hear Rock homage paid to The James Gang and The Isley Brothers as well as Toby Keith, Big & Rich and other crossover Southern Rock bands. There's even a Dixie Dregs-like fiddle during the short solo. Tongue-in-cheek humor, but still based in truth!

Lyrics
The sun comes up early in the mornin',
Shakin' my head, tryin' to start the day.
Fillin' my cup all the way to Tuesday,
Grab my keys and I'm on my way.
I'm goin' to work! You know a man's gotta work.
Work! We all gotta work.
The boss shows up with Krispy Kreme donuts,
Thinkin' that'll take the place of a raise
But if we all walked out, leavin' him stranded,
Wipe that smile right offa his face.
Work! That's why they call it work.
Work! You know we all gotta work.
Nine AM it's a three-hour meeting,
Coulda been an email easy as pie.
Nothing gets accomplished!
Feelin' like a catfish swingin' from a hook and I'm ready to die.
That's work! Man, it feels like work.
Work! You know we all gotta work.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Get back to Work! Every day, every night.
Work! Livin' paycheck-to-paycheck.
Work! I think I'll take a raincheck.
