Verse 1
These days it seems
Our world's a place of broken dreams
A shadow of the love we shared

Verse 2
The hopes and goals
That tumbled from our very souls
Forgotten now, vanished in thin air

Chorus 1
I'm going back to my place let the sun hit my face
I'm homesick
From these stifling streets to where the air tastes so sweet
Home sick
Homesick baby

Verse 3
We planned it all, a perfect life
You'd have your man, I'd have my wife
We'd move away where work paid well

Verse 4
We were young, it would work out
Was there ever any doubt
But pretty soon life closed around us like a cell

Bridge
What became of our hopes and prayers
In the city they were all laid bare
Ambition, rejection, a cycle that I couldn't break
Words left unspoken
Seeing you heartbroken
Time we left here baby for our sanity's sake

Verse 5
We need fresh air to breath
Oh, if we can only leave
The world behind us where we don't belong

Verse 6
Back home we'll grow
And in good time, I think we'll know
We can renew the love that is so strong

Chorus 2
I'm going back to my place let the sun hit my face
I'm homesick baby
From these stifling streets to where the air tastes sweet
I'm homesick

Chorus 3
Come on back to our place, let the sun hit your face
We're homesick baby
From these stifling streets to where the air tastes so sweet
I'm home sick
Homesick baby

You and me babe, time to go home.

very Peter Gabriel-ish
cool tune
nice lyric
good mix

Lyrically speaking, this song is RICH. It sort of comes across as a very organized, understandable stream of consciousness that is punctuated by a chorus that really makes sense, and greater sense as the song progresses. I like the "stifling streets" lyric, contrasted with the sweet air and sunshine of home. A very believable performance, vocal is crystal clear. I think a lot of people can identify with this song...if they have a good home to go home to. Keep the good music coming, Bob!
