You're very welcome, Bob. More to come. I'll get that on a playlist, too. I've immersed myself in learning production more than I thought I would so I have been spending less time on here. I think that will be very good in the long run since several of us cannot afford producers. Every time I learn something, I look back on my tracks and get more critical of what I've done. If I can get close enough to fool people, that will be okay with me! "The Drawing Room" really is a lovely instrumental that could easily be part of any of Narada's or Windham Hill's albums. Best to you! John

Did something I don't often make myself do - revisited a song and put right errors that should not have been there in the first place! Spent some tedious time correcting bits and pieces of piano in The Drawing Room, a necessary evil which I should be more disciplined about.

Hi Mr. Bob!
Honestly I'm guilty too! Working on my 7th album but never gave precise details like I did on my 2nd album in 1973 where I had a 4-page foldout (cassette), and listed every detail I could! I've always been able to go back and read the fine stuff and SMILE! catnip pat=+=

Hi Mr Pat,
I enjoy the discovery process when a song is coming together, but how engineers can listen minutely to a song over and over again is beyond me. Consequently, when I listen to my stuff later there are always areas that should have been corrected before it was posted. I guess because I'm on a bit of a block at the moment, it's a good time to deal with some of the things that I've been meaning to put right but hadn't got round to.
Keep well.

You're welcome. I'm well and starting to exercise my voice a bit more now, hoping it will be ok. Been working on a new song but still at the singing nonsense words stage hoping some decent lyrics will come to mind! Let's say I'm optimistic. I promised myself I would play more on my acoustic guitar and am finally getting some decent callouses on my left hand, it's amazing just how soft my fingers had become. I got away with it to some degree on my Strat with ultra light strings but without regular practice to toughen up the fingers the acoustic is unplayable even with lightish strings. I liken it to playing a keyboard, as against playing an actual piano, anyone can get something out of a modern keyboard, not necessarily so on a piano.
Off to that song again..................
Cheers,
Bob

Morning Bob,
Just a quick one to say congrats on getting into Earth Chart at No 2! I'm hoping it doesn't disappear as quickly as "I Never Thought" did when it go high up...the next day it bounced right out!!!
I am feeling your pain....when you're used to doing something, it's really not great to have to limit what you can do. And I can also feel your pain on the keyboard v piano! With piano being my real thing, I really loathe having to play anything other than a genuine piano. My dream setup is to have the luxury of a house with a room with nothing other than a grand in the room...utopia!!!

Very thankful and relieved that my vocal cords are very nearly back to normal (whatever normal is?!) now. Have been working on re-singing It Won't Be Me Who Says Goodbye, the song most affected by extreme hoarseness prior to my having to stop altogether. I have been taking it slowly and warming the voice up and down. I owe so much to the UK National Health Service for prompt and top class service and am trying to find lyrics for a than you song. There was a while when I thought I might lose my vocal ability altogether, so just getting a voice back was a blessing. Getting a singing voice back is a real bonus.

A great collab for sure. I'm intrigued who did what? There's some great elements going on, lovely little guitar licks and an excellent vocal. Great work guys, well done. More to come I hope?

Well,
I must say that I too, am not enjoying this new format, and not for the sake of it just being "new", but because it's not very user friendly. More than half a dozen times, I've tried adding songs onto a new album, and each time, it either does not save the original content, or, it adds songs multiple times, after having "saved" the deleted song/album, in order to start all over again! Also, in the old format, one could easily adjust the songs in the order one prefers, after placing into any album, which is not only impossible now, (or, at least, I have not found a way......yet?), but confusing because what is wanted as first, can be last. Plus, everyone's comments are not on my page; I must go to the "public view", before I can see all of the comments. I had no idea that there were more comments, until today. I'm sure that the good governer only wanted the best for his site, but it is not, in my humble opinion, better; quiet the contrary. I'm logging off, and really, what's the point? I'm not going anywhere, anyway......................

Thank you all gentlemen, for your kind responces and commeseration. I'm tech savy, as I know most everyone here is, and I maneuver quiet satisfactorily on my laptop at work with very convoluted, medical software, and of course, with recording software, etc. However, this was a curve ball, with the "old" format, so easily adaptable to seeingly, everyone's capability. And Randal, you had a great point, in that perhaps, the old format could had profited from some updates, i.e., with the ability to alphabetically arrange one's Playlists, (which is now possible), or say, drag and drop certain features. And, to the other point that you made, it appears as if it is to entice new members......not one thing wrong with that, unless of course, it alienates the established.
I will endeavor to persevere.......................... .......

It is worth saying that the BJ team are taking notice of feedback. I reported what I saw as a real drawback in the review section. Previously I was able to play back a song while reading the peer review report so that I could relate to the comments or scores from the reviewer. This was not possible when the new BJ was released but a quick feedback note was all it needed and it has been both appreciated and resolved. I also fed back that Top 10 charts could not be shared, something I have done on FB sometimes. Either I had missed something at the time, or the feedback has done the trick, but that has also been resolved, charts have a share button.
I also reported an issue about editing news which has also been resolved.
To be fair, I'm sure the small team had a very large task on their hands and are grateful for constructive comments. As I'm sure we won't be reverting to the old system, we may as well get the best out of the new one.

Personally, I like the new veneer. It can be quite the eye candy for the non-member listening public. How we get them to this site is a question that perhaps the Good Mayor can answer. Being a 'BETA' version ('a work under construction') there are a number of features that require experimentation to find what one is looking for. Next comes the learning curve where one can understand the value of a given function.

Not in any order of importance, being in the BETA Stage, I agree that given a top or bottom placement choice for any song in our catalog is a mystery to be solved. I have an idea worthy of experimentation. Upon listening to a member's emailed musical offering, how can we rate that song (up to 5 Stars) then simply add to a given playlist like the 'good old days'? Perhaps B'Jam is still working on that mechanism (I hope so). A character count (as before this BETA) was given so we could monitor our progress and edit right there and then. Song search in our personal work page would be most advantageous for those of us who have multiple song pages (I have five).

All in all, I like the new look / it's slick, professional and an overdue upgrade. I believe the Good Mayor and Minions are reading our comments to ascertain how they will smooth out the bumps in the road. As a work in progress, it's a good start.

as always, your friend in music - pgo

The experiment to re-organize than move songs to where we want them placed is as I had suspected. Once in 'My Home' click on the 'Manage' button. Click on ' My Songs'. On the left of each listed song is 4 pointed arrow. Click and hold so you can change its placement in the order of your preference. Excellent function as now, as you hold that arrow, you can move to any order you wish. This is so much better than before because we have complete control and don't have keep moving up or down one spot at a time. Talk about a real times saver. THX B'Jam for the new tool.

Great advice Peter, and thanks for your input too. Yes, the song "arrangement-order-preference", (as cumbersome as that sounds:), is a much better way now, rather than inching them up, one by one, when in edit; only wish that the album song choices were easier to arrange as well, or perhaps I'm doing something.....or, not doing something....ha!

Just uploaded an instrumental "The Drawing Room" (title may change) containing not one note of guitar. The tune came to me as I was improvising on my keyboard and it has a similarity to the theme music from Downton Abby, hence the title to reflect an English Country House. As a non-pianist, this song was a challenge and I suspect there will be amendments to it in due course.
Comments welcome, as always.

Pease DON'T remove the drums & I would suggest keeping the percussion through the entirety. @ 1:27 use a soft sidestick, kick & ride cymbal.

Hi Greg,

Many thanks for your review of Thomas, very generous. Thomas is my great grandson who is 2½ years old. When he was only 6 months or so they discovered he had a brain tumour. He then underwent 3 major, lengthy, operations to remove it but a tiny part remains. He is now on a 12 month chemotherapy course to hopefully reduce that to nil. This is very tough for him and his parents, especially as he is too young to really let them know how he feels.
Thankfully, his development seems unimpaired and his resilience and his spirit have been incredible throughout. I just felt it right to dedicate this tune but I didn't want the circumstances to influence reviews.

Thanks again,

Bob
