Story Behind The Song
I've been a lover of Linda Ronstadt's songs and incredible talent ever since I first saw her live on a German TV programme way back in about 1973. This song is a tribute to her.
I provided the vocal for the initial recording of the song in the Autumn of 2020 but struggled to do it justice due to the onset of vocal cord problems. In December 2021 I managed to obtain a great vocalist, Joe Borowsky, this is his version. I believe he has really done justice to the song and to the lady who genuinely got me hooked on country rock, Linda Ronstadt.

Key D
BPM 79
Verse 1
I can't be certain when it happened now but it's stayed with me for all this time
First caught you singing just by chance, your voice so pure and fine.
Verse 2
I played guitar then, a little rock n roll, not quite sure where it was taking me.
It came clear one evening when you took my soul while I watched you on our small tv.
Chorus 1
Dark eyed lady you held me spellbound, as you have through all these years
You sing pictures from your heart that I can see.
And from the first breath of Desperado through the Tracks of all Your Tears
This dark eyed lady found the country boy in me.
Verse 3
On stage beside you such a fine band made up of west coast troubadours
Pedal steel, guitars and harmonies, like I'd never heard before
Bridge
You were like a diamond then, and the spotlight made you shine
I wished that every song was sung for me, as if the very melodies could all be mine
Chorus 2
Dark eyed lady you held me spellbound, as you have through for all these years
You sing pictures from her heart that I can see.
And from the first breath of Desperado through the Tracks of all Your Tears
The dark eyed lady found the country boy in me.
The dark eyed lady found the country boy in me.
The dark eyed lady found the country boy in me.
