Story Behind The Song
I was thinking about how many single mothers there are and reflecting about how my biological father and uncle turned out so differently. In this world we can find plenty of people to blame but it ultimately all comes down to how we choose our own thoughts and actions.

Lyrics
2 Apples Fall
Jennifer the single mom says hush now babies
daddies gone and he ain't never coming back
She walks outside, 2 apples fall, she picks up one
The other rolls away to the swollen river banks.
And Jimmy punches in his sleep
and Jack just keeps on dreamin cats and dogs
they say fruit don't fall far from the tree
but forbidden fruit will wander to be free
They left Nebraska in 78 for SoCal and there Jenny met a man
Known as Iron Mike.
A metal plate fused in his head from Vietnam.
It didn't sit quite right
At 12 years old, Jimmy told Iron Mike his head was full of bricks
And took one in the jaw
Jack would skip Sunday night fights playin fetch til dark with neighbors dogs
The iron fist of Iron Mike sent Jimmy wandering at age 16
And Jack just chose the library and the kennel
where his kindness could find friends
Jimmy took to losing bets in bars and fighting with the foremen of all his short lived jobs
He drank too much, he fought the law, he spread his apple seed
Left a trail of tears and single moms and mouths he wouldn't feed
Jack worked his way through veterinary school bought his mom a house
and helped her get away from that iron headed fool
and Mama said Jack you pick your battles wisely and get your energy back from the love that you give I wish that your brother could see
In 95 Jenny got a note from Tampa Bay PD and it wrote
Jimmy in his car and broken bottles from the bar
The car had swerved and come to rest down by the river
Underneath a heaving apple tree
Apples covering his limp body
