Spirit Wind

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this when a friend fell to her death while hiking in 1986. A song about the presence of those close to us who have passed. That the wind is their spirit. Never to be forgotten, always near.

Lyrics

Spirit Wind
Words and Music by Linda Cullum
Recorded 1989

Out in my garden on a sunny spring day
I feel something tug at my hair
I turn around to see who came to play
No one there

A walk at evening in my neighborhood
Something brushes my skin
I speak out loud to whoever is there
No answer Just the wind

I sit alone by my wood fire
Someone knocks at my door
I rush on over to let them in
Just the wind in my face

Chorus
How many things can you feel but not see?
I can't deny invisible company
A breeze is more than what I thought it would be
Spirit Wind

You know some nights I have the craziest dreams
I fly and fly over towns and cities
Over the mountains and over the seas
Spirit Wind carries me

Chorus
How many things can you feel but not see?
I can't deny invisible company
A breeze is more than what I thought it would be
Spirit Wind

Bridge
Spirit WInd, the visiting never ends
It stirs up the leaves and distinct memories of lost friends

Wind Wind

You know some nights I have the craziest dreams
I fly and fly over towns and cities
Over the mountains and over the seas
Spirit Wind carries me

Chorus
How many things can you feel but not see?
I can't deny invisible company
A breeze is more than what I thought it would be
Spirit Wind
