Lyrics

SHOPPING CART

A single lady with a pay check each week,
She put in her hours, paid her dues,
Was living the good life fancy-free,
Until one morning she got the news.
Our business is weak, the letter said;
"Downsizing" was the word that she read.

For a little while the unemployment checks came,
Until the day when her pay ran out.
No money for renting; then she learned
What living homeless was all about.
She stopped by the local super mart,
Looked all around and chose a loose cart.

(CHORUS)
Now wherever she may roam,
The SHOPPING CART is home.
On her feet, on the street,
The transformation now complete.
Wherever she may roam,
Her SHOPPING CART is home.

Her stuff is organized and all packed in tight,
Her cart pushes easy, but just in case
The wheels don't seem to be rolling right,
No need to repair it, just replace.

(REPEAT CHORUS)

But she's still got her pride:
Does her hair at night
With a natural brush and a tortoise shell comb.
Then lays down on her side
By a door double-wide,
Right next to her SHOPPING CART home.

(REPEAT CHORUS)

Wherever she may roam,
Her SHOPPING CART is home.

Could it ever happen to you or me?
Can we ever really know our destiny?
