love your smooth sound!
Hey guys, great review of Waterford To Waterlane, really appreciate it! All the best, Mal
Jeff, Thankx for your review on "Dark Spaces", you always put alot of thought in your reviews. And we agree with your comments, so thank you so much. But hey..... You can play a kickin guitar, wondering how you get your sound?? Keep the faith and thanks again!
I use a Vox VT30 amp that emulates various amps and has a tube preamp. It aint' nothin' great but it makes some good standard sounds. And I record through an AKG C1000 amp into Protools through an MBOX USB analog/digital converter. I think the paradoxical thing is that clean and unprocessed guitar comes through heavier. Production is such voodoo at times. It's so fun and frustrating.
....fun and frustrating.......that pretty well sums it up Jeff!..:-)
frustrating, I'll go with..........not getting the fun though lol
......yea, but what about all those groupies Ron?!:-)
You guys knocked my socks off with Little Things!
Thanks Jeff! Appreciate the thoughtfulness to your reviews.
Gosh thank you *so* much for that review of The Second Hand!!! Did you guys move? I thought I remembered you with a California location... ~Jeff
yes we did, about 7 months ago. The song was so good, I should have known it was you. I guess that's the fun of reviewing, never knowing untill your finished.
I reviewed a very nice one of yours the other day, and had no idea, as it was a female voice!
Thanks for a nice review and score on my song! Appreciated it! Steve Dafoe
Tristyn, Thanks for your kind review of "One Look" much appreciated. BTW, the dog bark in the beginning was connected to the the song because it was written about a pit bull attack on my dog and myself. It was an attempt at humor on a very tramatic subject. The Differenz
I just listened to "Tell Me", you have a very compelling, unique and creative sound. Something about your tunes draw me in , and I want to hear more. Glad you reviwed our song, cause I wouldn't have found you, good job!
hiya yeah i thought it might be at first but wasn't sure. cool song , very unique and fun thanks re my music. :)
Waking Dream is a VERY tasty production! Enjoyed the flow....Loved the guitar and vocal.
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate that :)
Thanks for your recent review of "All I Need is a Prayer". Your comments are appreciated. As far as the band is concerned, I have done this with a band several times and every time is different. The problem is each individual's interpretation is different and it tends to get a bit confusing at times. This version is the one I intended as the songwriter. I wanted to capture the emotion and feeling behind the lyrics.
I realized in the first 30 seconds of "Canopy" that I've heard your music before. Sure enough, I reviewed "Halley" earlier. I liked "Halley" right away, and I like "Canopy" even better. I hope you were as impressed with my guess of your song title, as I was you guessing "Feed Me". OK, so I was one letter off. You guys have a really unique vibe going. I'm looking forward to checking out more of it. Thanks for listening to my stuff too. Tony
Thanks for the thorough review! You mentioned more bass, and I wondered if you meant more level or a busier bass line? My monitors are not perfect, and are a little bass heavy, so mixes are often off. Again, I appreciate and respect your opinion! MP
more level
On it! Thx! MP
Thanks for the review of "Motivator". You're probably right about it being more of a Jazz tune than pop.....I'm much more comfortable writing in the Jazz genre. Bill
I LOOOOOVE MOSE! Thanks for that comparison. MP
ooh yea! you have a jazz maturity beyond your years Matt. This so very smooth and cool, u can deliver!!!
Man, I'm hearing zappa beef heart ween and I love it. MP
Just listened to `The Mistake' - very strong song! I love the 70s vibe, the hypnotic bouncing bass line, and the classic beat. The vocals are the real highlight though; such a gorgeous inviting vocal sound, love the slightly throaty sound, the high notes were so perfect. Brilliant melody, felt like I was listening to some classic hit that I somehow never heard before.
That's what we were going for, sort of a 70's sound. Thanks for your kind words, much appreciated. Life would be so..... much better with a real studio.
juat reviewed Life is Wonderful.... have reviewed your tunes before but didn't know it was you, in other words, you rearrange yourselves. I don't know what the hell is wrong with the biz that you guys aren't at least top 100. Great job!!!! Keep working at it, maybe oneday
Thanks for the encouragement!
Wow - your review of `Life is Wonderful' was just awesome! Your obvious enthusiasm brought a huge smile to my face!! I'm so pleased you liked it - I just put that together a few days ago and I'm quite pleased with how it's sounding!! The only difficulty is trying to not make that squeaking noise when I play those acoustic guitar parts (when my fingers slide along the frets when I change chords). But perhaps I get obsessed with the details because I did it myself!
When it's art, you don't sweat the small stuff.
oh, and BTW the lyrics on this were exceptional!
Thanks again! :) I've been enjoying listening to your tracks too; as I've said before, the song ideas are so creative and original, the only thing getting in your way is the mixing! BUT we're musicians not mixers - we can't be experts at everything or else where would we find time to be creative?!?! :)
great production!!! you have a producers soul, with a great vocal .
What song do you mean?? and THANKS!!
thanks for your review of "The Mistake", gave me a real boost!
thanks for your review of my song Listen cheers Eric
I just finished reviewing Dying for More........I've reviewed many of your tunes and I'm thinkin "Why aren't these guys in the mainstream"? You have a very polished sound and the songwriting is excellent!!!! Keep going, maybe someday........
Thank you so much! It's so hard to get the music `out there'!! There isn't much room for rock in the mainstream these days sadly :(
You just gotta curveball them is all. There's room for Rock... Heck, I've been listening to Australian radio and there's plenty of room for new rock artists. The hard part is booking the tour:) Hope your day is a fantastic one, if its not, then dammit... You do good music!!! So feel better:)
I love your positive attitude Nathaniel!! :) What stations do you listen to Nathaniel? One of the content directors at Triple M is a massive fan of `The Best Day' - but it's only been played ONCE (about a week ago). He said that Triple M play pretty much all 90s rock, and they only add one or 2 new songs a week... and the `new' songs they add are all by established artists on their pension plan .... e.g. Foo Fighters, Slash, Tom Petty, AC/DC new single etc It's tough!! :)
I'm in Adelaide and my wife introduced me to a government owned station that rules. I haven't heard anything that would be found on American radio and absolutely love it. They'll go through every genre too. Anything from electro pop to rock to something that (resembles?) rap. Its awesome. I'm going to start looking into ways to get my own work into the airwaves once I've collected enough artists (that I've produced of course) to fill up an album. Its only tough until you open that invisible door. The trick is finding it:)
I assume you mean Triple J? They wouldn't touch my stuff, it's too `mainstream' for them
Thanks for the awesome review of my song! Have a great day~!
Wow! I looked this am and my songs were on several top ten lists! Thank you friends! Honored.
Well deserved Stanley
Thank you buddy.much appreciated
Coolness, Stan!!:))
you da man Stan!
Thank you so much for your enthusiastic review of `Box of Chocolates', I'm so thrilled that you enjoyed it! :)
Hey man, thank you so much for your awesome review of "Standing Beside You In Darkness" Really appreciate you honesty and opinions on this piece and my music in general. Honest reviews like yours are always a pleasure to read. Your right of course about the vocals but at the time I had something to prove and so had to take matters into my own hand. lol Looking to get into a real studio with a produce and engineer by spring. Again i can't thank you enough for your great review. Wishing you all success in all you do... Scott
I don't usually listen to this hard of rock, but u guys kick it. The guitarist is a bad ass and the drummer and he together are a match! love the sound u guys create.
The guitar on this cut is so f.......bad!!!! love it!
PS.... My kids always said that, "Cloud Show" reminded them of a Led Zepplin song...without the band....
Hey Differenz, Thanks for the kind review of my song, "Cloud Show". I wrote this back in the late 60's....and it is actually going to part of a Re-release of my first album, "Time Loop", produced in 1970 in SF. Back in those days, I was all about minimalistic production. "Cloud Show', we felt was better left as a solo piece by me and my producer, Stephen Barncard, who became an engineer for CSNY and David Crosby's long-time producer. I have been toying with a re-do with a more "orchestrated" arrangement....and it is on the agenda to be included in a new production I am working on. Thanks, again, I really appreciated your feedback. Best to you! Chet Nichols
