Hi Tracy--FYI your latest comment to Jim Aitken was posted as a reply on a comment I sent to Jim, so he didn't get your recent reply to him. I listened to your song "Trap". It's very beautiful and I love your voice! All the best, Jeana Potthoff
Hi Jeana, thank you so much! Tracy
Congrats on all your success on "One Night Stand"! Well done.
Thanks Jeana! They promise the world but any return will be negligible? BMI accounts at end of year will be a true reflection.
haha yeah, I seriously don't know what is going on with BMI, I have a hard time registering songs even, knowing that you Jim registered with BMI. Would you be able to let me know what is this problem? O.o thanks a lot! Tracy
Hi Tracy-- FYI your reply to Jim Aitkin posted to a thread that Jim responded to me, so he didn't get your latest comment. I listened to your #1 song on Broadjam. Very beautiful and I love your voice! All the best, Jeana Potthoff
Thanks Jeana for letting Tracy know about threads! Hope you are well! She has done well, winning the monthly competition. BMI is not the easiest to register songs on but I managed to have Lyrics and Composing adding up to the 200% for registering to be successful! I have a different version of "Dear Jane" posted here. FYI, I have cut "I see her dancing" to Three, Four lined verses, one line bridge and three choruses. Still to record time for it and adapt the melodies. Adjusting the music has been hard because verses were quite melodic when long. Will send you my latest reduced lyrics for perusal. If any opinion on music , feel free!
Looking forward to hearing your edits on "I See Her Dancing". It has a beautiful melody and the storyline draws you in.
Thanks friends for all the stars and playlist additions. I really appreciate your support!
You're always welcome, Jeana. We love and admire your compositions and how you play them! John
Hi Jeana, thx for the stars on "Sweet Summertime", at least I think you did that. This new Broadjam format is still confusing me and I cannot locate things easily at all. So if you did give it 5 stars I appreciate it. I hope you are well.
You are welcome. Thanks also for your recent stars. I agree the format is confusing-I'm not sure how long it will take to get comfortable with it!
Hi Jeana, Now that I've found out how to do it, many thanks for the 5 stars for Glendalough. I appreciate your support. Bob
You're welcome, Bob. I listened to your "Time to Think". Beautiful! Also thanks for listening and the stars for "Best Girl In the World". I appreciate it! Jeana P
Thank you, and your are welcome! Look who's in the Classical charts then - very much to my surprise!! Catch you later. Bob
Thanks for the stars and playlist for Time To Think and for supporting The Drawing Room also, it's always very much appreciated Jeana. Bob
My latest song is of a Fictitious Romance, akin to Leonard Cohen's, "Dance me to the End of Love" which is in movie on YouTube. It has three distinct melodies: one of which, is a solo (3 times) where they dance in the mist on the video I wish to make for it. Unfortunately, the pianist I used from "Fiverr" does not feel the music, nor Lyric! Any advice?
Hi Jim--I couldn't find a song on your Broadjam page that fit this description. Do you have some kind of recording for it?
Hi John--Thanks for the stars and listening to "Too Far Away". I value your input!
Hi Robert--Thanks so much for the stars and playlist for "Best Girl in the World (for Molly)". I really appreciate it! Nice job on "dI Never Knew". It's a great song and so glad it was picked!
Hi Jeana, No worries at all! I haven't quite worked out how to open a new comment trail so couldn't find how to actually add a comment to the stars and playlisting for "Best Girl...". I loved it-like all of your compositions....it has the Potthoff trademark sound to it which is just perfect! As you'll have seen from my lack of uploads recently, our wee man at home is now 15 months old and so my ability to get any songwriting done is very limited at present. It's a case of grabbing 15 minutes here and there which as you'll know, is not really conducive to effective songwriting. Anyway, wouldn't change it for the world and time will become more available in due course. Hope you are ok and that COVID is becoming more and more manageable across the pond. Robert
Hey Jeana, Just been listening to "Too Far Away". Obviously, it is just brilliant, as are all of your tracks but this one has a different feel to it. A new depth in my opinion. It reminds me in sound, a little of Chantal Kreviazuk who is a female artist I used to listen to a few years back. I particularly liked, "Feels Like Home" which was in Dawson's Creek. The piano is haunting like in "Too Far Away". Hope all well? Robert
Hi Robert--Many thanks for your kind words and stars and playlist for "Too Far Away". I appreciate your opinion. I love that song, "Feels Like Home" but the version I know is by Randy Newman, I think he's the original composer of it. I've seen Dawson's Creek but when it first came out, so I don't remember it from that. My daughter was born in season two so I was too sleep deprived to remember details! :-)
Ah...you are right it is indeed a cover! I knew that I had looked, as I usually do, to see the credits around the song and yes it was Randy Newman. Oh dear....it's funny how we relate certain times of our life to TV shows! For us, the show, "Last Man on Earth" (a very funny comedy/drama) was our 'get through the sleepless nights' show with our latest who is now nearly 15 months old!
Hi Warren--Nice job on "Dumb Luck", congrats on the placement! Thanks for listening to "Best Girl in the World (for Molly)". Appreciate the stars. :-)
Right back at ya! W
Hi John--Congrats on "You Can Feel It". You and Robert created something very special! Expertly crafted. Thanks for listening to "Best Girl in the World (for Molly)". I appreciate the stars and endorsements!
Hi Lawrence--Thanks for listening to "Best Girl in the World (for Molly)". I appreciate it! I'm still trying to figure out the new Broadjam changes, too. That's very cool that you are on Spotify and Amazon too! I looked up your Spotify songs and started listening. I say started because I'm trying to figure out how to just listen to them without it just playing other people's songs. I'll keep trying, though. Are you going to put more songs out there? I'm compiling a second album now.
I have 3 playlists started each one will be a 10 -18 song album. In total I have 14 albums on my computer right now. I know I am missing 2 good ones. I have signed as a publisher, it seems to make things go smoother. I hope it all works out. I got a couple of your songs tonight. I"ll be back.
Wow--you are way ahead of me! I better get to work. :-)
I just wish that I could write as well as you. I have a synth piece that I wrote in 2006 up on spotify-Morning.
Lawrence--you have a lot of talent and depth in your music. I enjoy listening to your pieces!
I want to invite you to a sync licensing webinar as soon as I figure out how to do it. I may not make it because of a prior commitment. If not interested let me know.
I figured out how to play your songs on Spotify--I had to use my laptop and not my phone. You put a variety out there! I liked all of them, but I'm curious about the longer songs. Do you record sections and then put them together? I know I couldn't make a clean recording over 4:30 minutes. About the sync webinar is this something I would need to join, or just watch? I've seen some before and they have some good points, but things I've tried haven't got me any closer to any placements.
It seems that Jody Friedman has kind of partnered with Michael Eisner and Michael is presenting the webinar. I have never had to join anything, though I have tried to. Actually I have never tried for a placement other then on Broadjam. I really needed to learn more, and these two have given me a lot to work on. It seems that my DAW can handle any length. But I was very dissapointed with "Morning" when I played it. There was a lot of distortion. My tv?
I have submitted to TAXI (over 10 years ago) and Broadjam opportunities, but no where else. I have songs in a few song libraries (mainly from those opportunities) but they just sit in the libraries, waiting for a music supervisor to stumble across them. When I've seen ads for Jody you can watch some of his input for free, but then it turns into a service to pay for to get more helpful information.
Also, your songs didn't sound distorted on my laptop.
That is a real relief. about my song! SOOOOO..... You have been in the desert also. I thought it was my personal possession. It sure is big and empty. Jody does charge, sometimes a lot. I just squeezed every free thing out of him that I could. His last podcast on PRO's is very interesting because he includes information on YouTube that I never knew before. Also Royalty Free libraries, spotify and a lot more stuff. Michael charged an entry fee for his upcoming sync-challange, 47$. I nervously scan my account every day until it refreshes next month, but every title of the training dealt with issues that I am dealing with right now. I also have a 60 page book of music libraries to submit to, if I am sure that they can use my product. I have a pile of material to consume at my own pace, and the lessons start tomorrow. I am delighted and citted to say the least. Will forward good stuff.
It sounds like we are on the same page. I'm focusing on releasing another album and try to get on Spotify playlists (the next hurdle that may be impossible but going to try). I started to read about royalty-free libraries, but have questions and don't know who to ask.

You Tube link https://youtu.be/b-VhAfpWMEM We know all about pro's but it is what he shares on royalty free library's, and Spotify and You Tube that will shake your boat. It certainly shook mine!
Thanks for sharing this with me! I will watch when I get a chance.
Jeana, "Best Girl in the World" is a very lovely, contemplative, gentle and memorable piece, much like George Winston's "Winter into Spring" album but with your own unmistakable style, and your wonderful gift of melody. John
Hi John--Thanks for your kind words and the stars and endorsements. All appreciated! Congrats on "You Can Feel It". You and Robert created something very special! Expertly crafted.
You're much welcome, Jeana. I also cherish your belief in the songs I do.
Really blown away by head in the clouds. I'm a drummer/guitarist/songwriter/want to be singer. Ive played Drums for my band Sunset Red for many years and I wrote and produced my own CD "On the Outside". I sang on it because I wrote everything so I felt I needed to "attempt" in order to get the vibe and feel of the song down. I finally now have all my solo stuff and Sunset Red material up on Broadjam. I love all styles of music but when I heard the beginning of "Head in the Clouds," it really moved me to tears. It has such a powerful and spiritual feel to it and it reminds me of memories. If that makes sense at all. I have piano in some of my songs but they were done by a session player in Nashville who simply added them when we were mixing. The song is called Sometimes. Anyways, congrats on your stuff. Have you had any luck with Broadjam? Gotten anything used and been paid yet? Just curious. Also trying to see if this submission thing is worth it or not. Always good to stay connected with other artists who are normal and doing the same thing. Much appreciated! Terry
Hi Terry-- thanks for your kind words about "Head in the Clouds". I appreciate it! I listened to your "Miracles". It is very beautiful, such a touching song to go along with an amazing story! You have a great sound, and I think a lot of listings are looking for songs with meaningful lyrics and depth like this one. I have had a few songs placed from the Broadjam listings, all of them song library placements, but none of them have been used in anything yet. In Septemeber 2021 I released my first album through CD Baby, and I plan to release another one in a couple months. This is another way for songs to be discovered, via streaming platforms. it may never happen, but I'll just continue plugging away. :-)
Jeana! Very nice! Thank you for the feedback as well. have you ever toured or played out or are you more of a recording artist. In the 90's I toured and played all over with my band Sunset Red, (as the drummer) but I've only recorded my own material. I've submitted songs that we used in Sunset Red but we have quite a few talented writers in the Band. Our Guitarist Ron Robinson is a producer now and he lives in Nashville. I totally forgot I wrote down what Miracles was about. I was reading what you wrote and you took me back to that place. That's the cool thing about music. I had not listened to that in years. I don't know if your like me but I hate hearing myself sing. I cringe. Not a singer so I hate hearing myself attempt it. I hope your having a great week and keep up the inspirational tunes!
Well here we are again! Running out of superlatives! The video matched the playing mood well! Makes me think your music should be the Mainstay in a nice movie where some songs could have varied accompaniment to suit mood! Jeana do you share your music anywhere else? Concert, show, music society, etc.?
Hi Jim--Thanks for your kind comments and watching "Head in the Clouds". At this point, I share my music on Broadjam and Facebook, plus in September 2021 I released my first album on iTunes, Amazon, streaming, etc. Now to find listeners is the trick! I listened to your song "My Last Farewell". Very beautiful, well-crafted tune with exceptional lyrics and music. It sounds like a hit!
Well I looked for a month, finally used your middle name and found you on Amazon. I like Song for Molly, I couldn't vote because I am having trouble navigating this new website. I am on Amazon and Spotify also and taking a lot of training on sync liscincing. I"ll be a plain you now. friend lawrence K. bodien
Nice to have you on board again Lawrence! I'm finding the new site a bit difficult to navigate as well!
John--Congrats on the end date of March 8th! Think of all the time you will have to work on your hits!
Oh, I am! I think I'm getting out just in time, hopefully before the governor calls all state workers to go back into the offices, which are in bunkers disguised as office buildings! This morning, being a holiday, is so peaceful. I started cooking breakfast at 10:00 instead of logging in at 7:30.
Hi Cyndi--"Dark Compartment" is another magical creation! Your voice is very beautiful and fits this style perfectly. Thanks for the stars and playlists for "Head in the Clouds". I appreciate it!
Hi Jeana, Thank you so much; so glad that you liked DC and gave it some love with your *****s and PL! Your "Head in the Clouds", is a musical trip of memories.....a feel of many yesterdays, and graceful in its touch! Brava!
Warren--Congrats on your 2nd place spot in the Dallas Songwriting Competition! That is quite an accomplishment, and well deserved!
Thanks Jeana!
Hi Eric and Ray--Thanks for your review of "Head in the Clouds". I appreciate it! I agree about the eq issue at 1:37, now to figure out how I can edit it.
Hi Fred--Thanks again for the favorable review, this time for "I See You (in my dreams)". I appreciate it! Congrats for all your time on the various charts!
Thanks Jeana - Congrats all your time on the charts too. Your stuff is brilliant!
That's very kind of you to say, but I can't compete with your success. I appreciate the encouragement!
Hey Jeana. Thank you for you kind review on A New Day. Really appreciate the positivity especially for the new year. Sending good thoughts and vibes to you. xo kj
Hi Randall--Thanks for listening and the stars for "Head in the Clouds". I appreciate it! I liked your new version of "So Far Away" with the extra added vocals. Great song!
thank you, happy new year to you!!
Thanks Randall, Happy New Year to you, too!
I See You In My Dreams Is even more engaging and beautiful with video. A pleasure to enjoy it again! Your dog is becoming famous! However Jeana, I still see, and feel, the song being about a person!
Thanks Jim. I agree with you that the song is about a person (or people). If I were making a professional video, it would be a dream sequence of someone who had died and we would be back to a time when everything was normal. At the end of the song and video it would be waking up and realizing it was just a dream, bitter sweet because it felt real and for a moment they seemed alive again. I just put something together that fit the music and that I took video for. :-), of course it's easy to have footage of my dog. Ha Ha
That's similar to what I hear in the song! I hear a longing for someone close who has gone (not necessarily deceased but breakup) with moments of reflection and unfulfilled ending! Hope you have a great New Year!
You have a great point that it works to be longing for someone, wouldn't have to be deceased. I wanted to congratulate you on your "One Night Stand" placement with Perpetual Music Group. Awesome job!
Hi Larry --Thanks for your kind review of "Head in the Clouds". I appreciate it!
Robert--"Presumably" is gorgeous! The minor-major motif is my favorite! The piano-strings-guitar are perfect together. Another hit!
Hi Jeana, Aw...thank you so much....coming from someone who is a class above me in terms of piano, I was keen to know if you thought the combo worked! The piano took me a good few takes and re-writes to end up with how it sounds! Happy New Year by the way! R.
Hi Corey's--Nice job on "On the Cases Tonight"! Has an early 80's vibe. Unique and fun. :-)
Jeana, Thanks for the Listen to, "On the Case Tonight", this was one of our first tunes we ever composed back in 2014!! Anything bother you about the composition in anyway....be honest!! You are my Pro Ears! Hope you & your Family had a Nice New Years Day! Art Corey...........
GREAT song. Vocals and production are on the money. Sounds like a hit. Please send me the lyrics. Evan
Hi Randal-Thanks for your thoughtful review of "I See You (in my dreams)". I appreciate it! I might have to see about a drum part, although I don't very sophisticated ways to record things so it might be tricky. Good suggestion, though.
Your welcome Jeana, great song!
Hi Eric and Ray--Thanks for the favorable review of "I See You (in my dreams)". I appreciate it! I like your constructive observation on the strings and it has me thinking about tweaking them a bit. Good suggestion!
John--Happy Belated Birthday! I would say you had an amazing musical year, bringing your songs to life in a very masterful way! Here's to all the best for you in the year ahead.
Thank you very much, Jeana. You were a big part of making it amazing for me for which I'll always be thankful. All the best to you as well!
John, just read where it was recently your Birthday, how young are you dude?? You don't look a day over 62, am I close?? I'm presently 71, but feel like I'm 80!! I keep falling every day as of late...What a Pisser!! My lower torso has stopped working!! Toodles, Don't eat too much Happy Cake!! Art C...........
Close enough for government work, Art! Your observation is as clear as a low resolution jpeg image but that's okay with me. We had a fish dinner with beer followed with ice cream. Here's hoping your back will improve with being careful. I agree, falling down is downright aggravating! Hate it!
"Back to Us" with Dora and Sebastian is a lovely and touching video. They were beautiful souls.
Thank you, John. Some of those photos seem like a lifetime ago! Brought back happy memories.
Jeana, listening to "Back to Us, Dora & Sebastian' another beautiful composition and the video of your Fur Babies is quite Glorious. Are they still with you, they look so precious!! Our Cat "Pig Pen", was on our Bad list for several days, she bit both Margie & I three days ago....not sure why?? We were just rubbing her head and she bit Margie's palm of her hand and drew Blood! I was not petting her for the last several days and then Broke down and started showing her affection again!! She is so Gorgeous and has weird funny traits, she is had to resist!! Where your cats Feral at one time?? Again, another terrific tune, but all your songs are Over-the-Moon Great! Toodles, Art Corey..............
Hi Art--Thank you for the kind comments about "Back to Us" and the video. Both of the cats passed away this year, one in January and the other in August. I wrote a tribute song for each cat, "Dora's Lullaby" and "Sebastian's Theme". I have been around cats who bite every once in a while. Usually they don't mean harm, but they can be very particular where they like to be petted. They have a mind of their own, that's for sure! Our cats weren't feral, but they were pretty wild because they were Bengals.
Jeana, I now remember your compositions, "Dora's Lullaby" and "Sebastian's Theme"....those were wonderful tunes, tributes to your Fur Babies!! "Pig Pen" is back on our Good List, but we are being very careful, when petting her!! I play a game with her called Kitty Tailes, I take her beautiful tail and rub it in her Face, not sure if she really enjoys it, but I do it anyway...it cracks me up!! What a low thresh hold!!! Hee Hee! Have a Good rest of the Day! Toodles, Art C..............
I'm sure Pig Pen likes the attention, but maybe not your game so much. :-) She says she needs a name fitting of her beauty; "Pig Pen" is giving her a complex!
