This is a long time coming but I just read yr comment. Thanks for listening to Lazy Bone. Hope you like it. & others. I played bass (1st& last time) on some of the 1st UVS LP. I was the 1st person to join the band with Kirt who had already recorded a UVS single in his own.

Low Life Scum is a nice, slow track. Would be a good album ender, I think. Great lyrics in Electric Arms and Legs. Binding Love Spell I couldn't find, but I'm looking forward to hearing it!
Hi Ian Really liking Low life and electric, can't listen to Binding as its not on your list!!! Really like the clean use of the chords you'd usually hear heavily distorted in a deftones style song - strangely they work well with the softer sung vocal, who'dve thunk it; you obviously LOL 5 stars from me.

It's nearly always a round a bout way of deflecting the listener from the fact that it's nearly always "I" or " me" that I'm talking about. Hope you can check out a couple more. Great Job, son! All three are Beautiful, but Fairy Tales is the ultimate heartbreaker. Your voice is perfect for mournful soulful tunes.

Should be the first three. Everything goes. Fairy tales. Big horse ( it's yr birthday) and Diary of a lost girl. Hope you like some of them. When you record the vocals for yr track try setting a boomed mic in a position that means you can record them laying flat on yr back. It flattens out yr vocal coards
Ok, first 4 songs. As I was saying.. It flattens out yr vocal chords and gives you a naturally raspy sound. So you can sing softer which means you can effect a scream differently than you would live. By just singing through a closed throat into a mic you can almost 'pretend' to scream. I'm not a fan of the baritone growl personally, but at least you can try a few things out and see what flies! Look forward to hearing more of yr stuff.
Give 'white pony' or 'around the fur' by the DefTones a reference for a softly sung / but really effective shredding vocal sound. plus they use a ton of vocal compression. Also, you could try double tracking yr lead vocal with another identical, but sung separately lead vox. That nearly always sounds great. I don't double track my vocal personally but a lot of great bands do.
I like the idea of lying down - they used to say at work that I was so laid back I was horizontal!! I did double track for a while at a studio I used (check out w.d.y.w.m.t.b and walk away, your love) but wasn't totally convinced - so now I copy the vocal and add different comp/eq/rev to add a bit of thickness. Got a few suggestions from different perspectives so gonna have fun trying it all out - just as long as my kids don't stand there screaming at me when I'm trying to sing!!!
I was talking about yr song hey god btw. Listening to yr other work like 17 and so on, you've got a good overdriven gtr sound going on. Hey god would sound great with more of that and less compressed metal fx I reckon.
The instrumentation is good. The guitar sound is a bit too "new metal" sometimes though. But I'm from the old school so what do I know? It's a good arrangement and I like the vocal melody ok but it could use some work. Try adding some more harmonies. That always helps a track. Good job tho. Like it! Check out "this heart" or " cold cold heart" on my profile page if you wanna hear where I'm coming from with the guitar sound thing.

Checked out those 2 tracks and see what you mean. Cool sound, kinda feels like late 80's sleaze rock with british punk rock thrown in for good measure - if you kno what I mean...

Ian, Beautiful new tunes man. Love your Soft side, as most seem to (Take Cover Top 10 headed for #1). Cats make the most tender of men. But they don't live long enough except to break your heart. Love on. - N

Ian, Take Cover is so beautiful, I would like to include you in a project I am working on with Jay Wollin and Xenia Dunford to create the New Velvet Underground, tentatively called VU2. I figure we could use some British influence. And Jay is local to you, so that should help. Check out these hot and cool sounds that will blend like a fine Whiskey into a greater sum than the parts.
Although yr genre is at times a little over populated. Yr arrangements instrumatation and sentament all have a lovely fragile strength. A ring of truth about them. And many layers and side roads. I love 'em. Ian C Bishop
