Allison,
Thanks for the review and comments on "Semi-Sweet". Old tune and not my normal genre, I'm a Jazz guy, but my wife loves country so I took a dip in those waters. Glad you liked it.
Listened to a couple of your tunes, you've got some lyrical chops...

Thanks for your more than kind review of "Baby Said Bye, Bye". Yet another example of a tune with a mixed bag of musical influences. Not sure what genre this would fit according to the latest options...eclectic?
Thanks again,

Thanks for the review of "Touch Down". As with most of my stuff, finding an appropriate genre has always been a bit of a challenge. Spent too many years studying, playing, writing, and composing jazz to not have it influence what I do. There's not a big audience for jazz on Bjam and it seems if you use a few slash chords or upper extensions folks automatically put the tune in the jazz category. I wonder what BS&T or Steely Dan would be classified as here...
Appreciate your comments,
Bill

Hi Warren,
Thanks for the review of "I Know". Yeah, there's some jazz influence and gotta admit it's tough to pick a genre for most of my stuff because of that underlying influence. Too much BS&T, Chicago, Steely Dan and Dirty Loops in my brain...

Thanks for reviewing "Fun Outside". Actually there isn't any real defined melody. It was just a quick jam on a chord progression I stumbled upon.
Congrats on your Top Tens... well deserved.

Yep - character song. Broadway/Disney...I watched a LOT of Disney musicals while raising my daughter, and when I did the 1994-1996 revival of 'She Loves Me ' on Broadway, my then 4 -yr-old got to meet the actors who did the voices of 'Jaffar' and 'Alladin' - both actors were in our cast. A thrill for her!

Tony,
Glad you liked "Mostly Blue". Wrote that during my SongU days. They didn't know what to do with it. Couldn't place it in their "what genre is this?" list. At that time they were very much country oriented and I wasn't. They've really grown and a great place to get critiques and advice on all aspects of the music biz... good guys. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to improve their songwriting chops.

Hi Marvin,
Glad you liked my cover version of Bobby Freeman's 1958 song "Do You Wanna Dance". Added a bridge to the original. Yeah, the drums need to be tightened up...as usual. There's probably a thousand versions of that tune but never heard a jazz based one, so...
Thanks again.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the listen and review of "Mean Dreams". Absolutely agree with you on the production problems. It was a very quick and dirty last minute version just to meet a deadline. I'll get back to it in time, clean it up, probably start from scratch and maybe tone down the lyrics a bit.
As always , appreciate your input.

Well deserved...

Talking about the '50s. I am a tad younger than you, but I do have recollections as early as late '56 onward. The one tune that typifies that time, at least the way I recall it, is the instrumental "Theme from a summer place" / Percy Faith & Orch. Remember that on radio in '59, always peaces me out. - T

Hi Nigel,
Thanks for listening to "Do You Wanna Dance". Sorry you hated it, but jeez, it's just a cover of a 1958 R&R tune by Bobby Freeman, tried to make it a little retro. Still friends I hope, like your stuff...

Thanks for the 5's for "Speed of Life". One of my wife's favorites.
And...."Winter of '21-'22" is damn cool! Don't know how many different layers it took to create it but it all works. Hope you're planning on putting this out to some of the opportunities on bjam.
I'm in the process of reviving some old Jazz stuff from the Paleolithic period of my compositional journey. It's been interesting so far...
Best,

Hi, Bill!

Your stuff always interests me, always instructive. Your words very good indeed.

Thanks for the stars for Winter '21-'22. Couldn't think of a title, so I just kinda date stamped it. Took me a good 3 months or so to get this together working on it nearly every day, and a tweak or two surely on the horizon. -- Back to a blank drawing board. :-\

Hope you and yours are well!

We're good, hope the same for you. I noticed you used one of the pro reviewers and was wondering if you felt it was worth the pazzoozzas. I've been considering it but $100 bucks is a bit steep for me. Not sure I have anything that would be worthy of the effort. Just received a bunch of nice refusals from some pitches...'good production but not what we're looking for at this time'. I shall continue to chase the elusive venue.

I have had one song considered for commerce but ultimately not used. Will certainly consider other pitches that may suit my work. -- I have paid for two pro reviews, two different songs. In each case I sought a nice blurb suitable for promotion. Only my Blue Chalkin" got something suited to that purpose. -- Trying to spend my money wisely for sure.

Thanks for the listen and review of "I Know". Might disagree with you on listing this as a Jazz tune.
