Hey Randy, Thanks for the great review of escape, much appreciated! Thanks for the suggestion also! George
Man this sounds great... so great that now I'm in love with Joy (obviously kidding). I honestly can't tell if these are orchestrated with real players or not... I'm very impressed with not only your sound, but the writing and performances are superb.
yes she has a stunning voice and she is perfect for breathtaking music. thank you so much for the comment and i am very happy you enjoyed the music!
very cool tune in Friends in High Places, one thing i'd like it to hear the lyrics in this mix a bit more clearly, very nice musicianship! xoxo warren
Randy, Very glad you liked my "Little Drummer Boy" was always one of my favorite modern xmas songs. Thanks you for your kind review. In music Delta
Well Randy, I listened to all your songs. As I come away from them, I'm certain there is a gypsy hiding in the long train ride, and in the procession. Nice guitar and sax, and what a thrill to hear trumpet! Would like to know what you mean when you say "just a school assignment." I've seen some licensing posts lately that Adventure Theme would fit. Thanks for listening to some of mine. Hattie
Hi Hattie... I find that having some reason or having a subject matter to write about is very helpful. I went to school where they had specific assignments and sometimes had even a defined subject matter. So those pieces were a few of those assignments. This morning I had the delightful opportunity to list to a wide swath of your material, good heavens you are diverse. With all the electronic stuff happening these days it is so delightful to hear real musicians and emotions being expressed. I only recently was able to afford working with other musicians again, and can honestly say I just love it. I also love co-writing but everyone is so busy these days I've not had much luck making that happen. You are extremely talented, consider me one of your fans...I'll be listening...
Hi Randy. Well, I'm your fan, too. Your voice is very emotive and so is your daughter's. Both voices are full of sincerity and authenticity. As for assignments, I have written to Broadjam's contests and challenges, and I have a handful of songs I'm proud of that would not exist without those BJ "assignments." It's a good feeling to be able to write to order. Glad you found some songs of mine that speak to you. Yeah, diverse. I remember moving to LA in the mid 80s and being told if I wanted to succeed, I had to stick to one genre. Didn't want to do it then, and don't want to now cause there's great music in all genres. And I always noticed that famous musicians didn't have to stick with one genre, but I know the LA advice was about breaking into the business. I'm working with musicians long distance, which is fun, but not as fun as eyeballing each other in the same room. Do you play piano?
Oh my gosh... I moved to LA in the eighties too... I put in 5 years I hated la... they told me the same thing, AND that I needed to sound more like whatever the flavor of the days artist was ...can't remember... Thank you for your kind comments... and if u ever have desire to co write something sometime lemme know. I do play piano... I write mostly on piano and guitar in G tuning. I'm not really good at anything in particular but I'm okay at a lot of stuff. Comes from writing alone for so many years.
Wow, I'm impressed with your profile content..... and were neighbors...Good stuff.
Thank you so much.... I've listened to a number of your pieces as well. I really like your style... in particular I like your use of unexpected chords and that ethereal feel you create. Yes we are neighbors...and I plan to keep an ear out for any future material you write... I really like it.
Randy, Thanks for the review.....I pulled that out of the grave, recored on a 8 track, in a garage, in 1975
Hey Randy, Just heard,"Let the Waters Carry Me Home", nice melody! Is that you singing the tune?? You have a pretty nice voice Sir, works well with your material!! 5 Stars & Likes! Say, I thought we were once Broad Jam Buddies for awhile, but can't seem to find the connection in my files! So, I have a Grand Idea, let's try reconnecting again, and talk Music! We have some tunes that might interest you....maybe?? You never know until we connect again?? Stay Safe Mister Calligan and wear that Mask!! Toodles. Margie & Art Corey.........
Howdy... thanks for your kind comments. Yes that was me singing. Lets have a listen....
Hattie I really like your work a lot.... It's so nice to hear someone actually writing music instead of rehashing cover tunes. Your stuff has real quality and a great feel overall. VERY REFRESHING
Thanks Randy. Just finished listening to your entire list, so we're mutually refreshed!
Hi Randy, Thanks for the comments on my Piano Song! Great observations. Interestingly, it was an actual acoustic grand piano I recorded with an SM58 in my bedroom. I think your comments were right on point! Thanks for taking the time. Paul Pierce
Hi Paul, Very nice piece. Your comment to me facilitated my being able to listen to your other music. What a treat, you have some real talent my friend. Not only great tunes but real instruments and real players...pedal steel... Im green with envy.
Dear Randy, GREAT Composition! Sounds like Music from the 50's Disney Films...Fantasia! I can almost see Mickey conducting the Waves!!! You really know how to use virtual instruments!!! 5 Stars & Likes! Keep hearing those morning songs!! Stay Safe Sir!! The Corey's..........
Hey there Randy, just heard your song, "The Things I Miss", nice composition, is that you singing?? If so, Good Job!! Gave you 5 Stars & Likes!! Stay Safe and wear a Mask, in fact...Wear Two Masks!! Toodles, The Corey's........
Thank you so much I really appreciate it
Hey Randy, one more query??? Was that you singing on your composition?? The Vocal was really nice!! Art Corey..........
I apologize for such a belated response.... I need to get on Broadjam more often. I sang both the things I miss the most and the other one you asked about. I'll try to do better....
Hi Randy, Thanks for your review of Niamh. I really liked your perspective, and agree with your points. Kind regards, Daniel.
Hi Randy, thanks for a kind review of New Empire. Good comments, I'm grateful for any feedback. I hadn't meant to enable this particular version for review because it's a condensed version for a specific opportunity. A lot of the variation is missing compared to the original (just titled Empire) you may find that has more dynamic and more variation. Thanks again, Bob
Hi Randy--I listened to "The Procession". Very beautiful! Thanks for your review of "Dora's Lullaby". I wish I had string sounds like you do, yours are very realistic. I appreciate your suggestions, I need to see if I can find a better piano sound. I'm not sure what a click-track is, I use audio tracks and record live, but I see what you mean about the tempo.
Howdy... thanks for your kind comments. I've been listening to a number of your other pieces on Broadjam. I just love your melodic sense... I really feel something when I listen, and isn't that the point...? All I meant by the term click track is that I wanted the piece to be able to slow down, and even stop in certain areas, and maybe even slightly speed up in others. For example using the counter on the broadjam player, at about 19-20 (right after you did the intro where you stated that beautiful melody) I could hear full strings come in to state the melody with the piano then starkly disappear by 28. At about 52 the tempo just slow to a stop and pause just before you go back to the main melody. Of course these are only my opinions, so they dont mean much, but I think this piece could be excellent for a soundtrack.
Great suggestions worth trying. I get stuck in a rut how I record, but mixing things up can only improve my process. Thank you!
As I always say, you either have the talent and originality or you don't, the rest is just window dressing... you have all the important stuff covered. Recording and overcoming ruts are what we all struggle with. If you ever have a piece of music that you are stumped on and want to try co-writing with someone, I'd be honored.
Hey Randy thank you for your review of my instrumental alt I've titled Final Minute Alone...I did chop the heck out of it, and my producer at the time (2012) didn't have many cello programs, so your comments are spot on! This is just a sliver of my vocal I think is still on my page, kinda powerful stuff, serious, etc (not that my vocal is anything splendid...but you might want to give it a whirl, it's titled You're Not Alone.... Spot on review, and thanks for listening! Warren Hein
Well wait, I took the vocal down it seems, I've reloaded it--don't know why I did that, must have been all over the planet I guess...LOL WH
I love them all!! You have an amazing talent. I am not worthy :) My life has changed immensely. Mother and wife have both passed. Think of you often, just never took the time to search for your music. I still live by music just can't express it like you. Thanks for letting me listen, Randy.
Oh My Gosh Nelson, what a pleasant surprise hearing from you, but at the same time I am shocked. I heard about your mom and was quite saddened by it as I always liked your mom a lot. She was always so animated and up... supplying us with food for a little kid adventures. But your wife..? What happened? That's a shock. Thanks you so much for your kind words and the 5 star rating on my music. It really helps getting feedback (especially positive feedback). Thanks
Hey Randy, it's us again, Margie
Dear Randy, just listened to all three of your newest compositions and they are absolutely Beautiful!! Gave you 5 Stars & Likes on them all. Are you playing all those instruments or are you using samples & loops. Whatever you are doing, the tunes are magnificent Sir! Great Job, very impressed with your musical talent!! Happy Trails, The West Coast Corey's
Howdy... Thanks again for the positive affirmations. I don't use loops, however these are all virtual instruments that I play one at a time. Most everything in the classical realm that I write come from pieces that play in my head, so I'm not always sure I should take credit for them. I had a chance to listen to your music as well, and I am very impressed. Playing, production and writing are all top notch...
Hey Randy, thanks for that info! What equipment/App do you use to compose your wonderful songs?? Happy Holidays, The Corey's Oh.........Glad you enjoyed some of our songs!!
For the Orchestral type stuff I use mainly spitfire, VSL, Orchestral tools, and the like. Presently using Logic Pro X but hate it, switching to Cubase. How about you?
Hey Randy, We use Studio One & Band-In-A-Box. But recently we tried to get our songs released on Tune-Core for world wide digital distribution and were rejected! They detected samples from BIABox in our tunes. We start our songs in either BIABox Samples or Samples from Studio One and then add live Musicians to the songs! Anyway, not to happy with this blockage from companies that say..........Use Our Apps to write your songs with, then cry fowl, if you use some of their song files!! For us...it's usually the Drums or Bass that we employ!! But that's gonna stop for sure!! We are returning to those songs, that we submitted to Tune-Core and replacing them with Live Parts!!! Also, can you have a quick view of our Video and tell us if you think this video is to violent?? One of our relatives at Christmas said that is was too violent and that the theme of our song didn't go with the footage that we used in the video?? The link is below on U-Tube....... Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgG Lrpo3fJY Hope you will give our video a view, really would like your take on our song & Video??? Happy Holidays. The West Coast Corey's...........
couldnt get the link to the video to work. Not sure what to tell you on the other... sometimes I think producers just pull any reason out of a hat rather than just saying the piece doesnt fit what they are looking for. I pounded the pavement in the 80s, practically killed myself doing and redoing things, and in the end I dont think they ever intended to do anything in the first place. I more or less just do this for fun nowadays... got burned out pursuing it as a job. I guess I just assumed I dont have the talent so I switched my gears to enjoying it instead.
Randy, probably the best outlook to staying positive with the music!! We are kind of in the same Camp as you, we just write tunes for ourselves and if people enjoy the material, all is good!! Happy Trails........ The Corey's
Randy, try this U-tube connection again! I just tried it and it worked! Copy & Paste to the Internet and see if it works?? www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgGLrpo3fJY Toodles, The Corey's
Like I said earlier I apologize for such a late reply. The Youtube link did work this time. Great tune... fit video perfectly.
Your material is excellent... you are so lucky to have found someone to co-write with
Thank you very much Randy!
Thanks Randy for your recent review of my soundtrack instrumental "Incredible Heroes". I'm glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate your comments as well. :)
Got so excited about the song, I forgot to do the rating.....WOW....that good!! Take care. Greg
Just reviewed "Gone" Rap Dirty South? Lol! Nice vocs on this one R! Keep on Trukin! catnip
Holy Sh!T!! this stuff is great... The playing, performance, mix, its all there. Very nice. The players especially in the country stuff are great. Id give my eye teeth to work on a song with people of this caliber. Thank you for your kind comments a bout my stuff as well.
Dear Randy, so you might be interested in singing on one of our tunes??? WE will put you on the list for up-coming vocals for one of our tunes!!! I love your voice.....it's so pure!!! And you sing with such conviction & honesty!!! So, what song did you listen too??? As you can see or hear, we write in many genres, so you might listen to a few more of our tunes. If you like the musicianship of the song I sent you, you might really enjoy a CD that we released back in 2002, Tales of The New West/songs of the Corey's & Dennis Kahler/sung by Buddy Jewell. The Album was picked up for National Distribution, look it up on the Internet. Oh, Buddy was signed to Sony Records, he's the artist that had the number one hit, "Help Pour Out the Rain", you familiar with that tune?? Anyway, great to hook up with you Sir!! Again, truly love your song, "Gone" M & A Corey/BMI Peace Out..........
I really struggle with Broadjam. On one hand I completely understand that what I am writing is little more than my singular opinion. But then I asked myself whether I would want iisteners to simply write good things no matter what about my material, and I thought, "hell no" I want people to write what they really felt. So my intention is NEVER to be mean spirited or hurtful, but I have now begun saying what I truly feel. I do my level best to be constructive with it, as destroying someone's piece simple beats their spirit down and does no good for anyone including myself. But is being truthful a way of paying forward? I dont know... you likely know better than I. What I do know is that Ive learned a lot from people that gave me tough but fair reviews. After all youve accomplished infinitely more than I have in music look at what youve accomplished with your music....and all the successes youve had. Take any morsel you want from my reviews, and if they mean something great if not.. Im just some idiot out there in virtual song land..
No no Randy, I truly appreciate your I'm put. That piece was written awhile back and should have been closed off for review along time ago. I was playing on a Korg into a computer so it should not have been put up until I had it produced. It was a spoof on "The Godfather" theme. Anyway you are very wise and articulate. If you have a chance listen to the new material that is st the top of my playlist. I went in a totally new direction and using the Roland Fantom G8. I think you may enjoy the new work. All the best, Felice
Randy.......nice honest assessment of trying to be a reviewer and that 'fine line' of not upsetting people. We all been there.
Well stated Steve, Happy New Year 🎶🎹🎼
Thank you so much Randy for the kind words! much appreciated!
Hi Randy, Thank you for the review on Mediterraneo. I agree with it. The song is surely underdeveloped and there is room for adding more in the arrangement. But I have to explain that it was a demo for a film about the Pollica coast in Italy but the director used it as it is, He liked it so much that the demo was the song. It's a first take improvisation around a melody I had written for it. I will develop it for sure. Thnks for the kind words! Max
Quite honestly Warren... I really struggle with Broadjam. On one hand I completely understand that what I am writing is little more than my singular opinion. But then I asked myself whether I would want iisteners to simply write good things no matter what about my material, nad I thought, "hell no" So my intention is NEVER to be mean spirited or hurtful, but I have now begun saying what I truly feel. I do my level best to be constructive with it, as destroying someone's piece simple beats their spirit down and does no good for anyone including myself. But is being truthful a way of paying forward? I dont know you know better than I I guess. What I do know is that Ive learned a lot from people that gave me tough but fair reviews. Afterall look at what youve accomplished with your music....and all the successes youve had. Take any morsel you want from my reviews and if they help fine.. if not file them under idopt that doesnt know anything.
no, no, Randy, i was simply being truthful--that you are, and damn i am GLAD you are a tough reviewer--hell knows some folks have not been happy with my reviews of their music--it's obvious stuff to me (and i'm a terrible musician, but we have ears, right?) so i continue to welcome your reviews...and frankly sir, you know what the hell you are talking about!! if i sounded peeved, i really wasn't, just cheeky...and know what? i struggle with BJam too, as it is too easy when we post a new song, to be "listed", "starred", etc...too easy. all the best my friend, with respect, and keep on keeping on--keep on us all!!...Warren
thanks Randy for your once again tepid review of one of my songs, the classical, mostly piano solo piece Before My Time--honestly, i agree with allot of what you said...it was a vocal that i asked "my" piano player to replicate and he did what i told him to do...that said, i see others appreciate, as i do, your tough reviews, and i look forward to more. all the best, Warren Hein
I really love your stuff... its so refreshing to hear songs and sounds that sound so unique..
Thanks Randy, I really appreciate the comments and reviews.
Hi Randy thanks fir that awful review :) it was a pitch for a movie my husband wrote. I am going to close off the piece.
