A Very Special Wedding - Roz & Joe
Roz and Joe planned a huge fairytale wedding. The wedding date was set for August 18, 2012 to be held in a beautiful old Castle with 120 guests being served only the best food and wine. The cake would be custom designed, the flowers all white Lilies and the tables set and decorated with fine linens, china, crystal, and glowing with beautiful candles...then things changed.
My Mom, who was greatly loved by both Roz and Joe, was taken to the hospital suffering from a heart attack. After weeks in the hospital she was transported to a Nursing Home where she went on Hospice Care.
In the spirit of true love, on Monday the 20th of December 2010 (Mom's 90th birthday) Roz and Joe announced they were changing their wedding date and venue, and would be married THE NEXT DAY in the Nursing Home with their Grandma. On that Monday, (Mom's birthday) and before visiting Mom they bought the wedding rings, got the license, found a judge to marry them, hired a tux, got the wedding dress altered, bought a flower girl dress for Joe's daughter, arranged for their hair to be done and a small cake to be made by a friend. This was all done in the morning before visiting Mom, and then Roz had to go to work at 2pm. There were only 18 people at the wedding the next day, but to them the most important one there was my Mom...their Grandma. Roz and Joe sacrificed a lot so their Grandma could be there to watch them get married. They didn't have time for an engagement party, they didn't get to have their bachelor and bachelorette parties, Roz didn't have a bridal shower, and they didn't get to have all the beautiful gifts newlyweds usually receive.
Even though they didn't get the beautiful fairytale wedding they both deserve and both dreamed of, this wedding was the most beautiful wedding I've ever had the pleasure to be part of because this wedding was planned in the true spirit of the meaning of love. I still congratulate Roz and Joe, they were/are an inspiration to us all.
