Story Behind The Song
After high school my buddies and I decided to go on one last big trip to usher in our new college careers. My buddy Wally was leaving for Westpoint, Beaver was going to college to be a ban director, Mell a graphic artist and Biff, well, he just wanted to get laid. I was going to music school in the Fall and was looking to whoop it up one more time. We decided to go to Mobile, Alabama to visit my Dad and enjoy the local Gulf coast scenery. When we arrived at Gulf shores the beaches were beautiful and all the guys rushed out of the car to jump into the waves. they left me, the pack mule to haul all the stuff onto our spot in the sand. I plopped the stuff down grabbed the football and looked for someone to throw to. Seeing as Beaver was usually the one more easily spotted, white as a ghost and usually not surrounded by women, I looked for him first. as I looked a beautiful girl in a Brighly coloered bikini crossed my vision and I couldn't help but look. She noticed me looking and said rudely, what are you looking at?" and I nervously replied, "Uh, Ma'am I wasn't lookin' at you I was lookin for Beaver!" Then she slapped me. Hence, the name of the song.
Song Description
Life in a small town can be tough sometimes when everyone knows everybody else's business. But I was always lucky to have a groups of guys to watch my back. They were Biff, Wally, Melvin and Beaver. Of course thier real names were Jeff, Paul, Kevin, and Steve, but only their mothers called them that. As you an imagine it wasn't easy growing up with abest friend with the nickname of Beaver but it always led to an interesting story or two. this song is a testament to our great friendship and the great memories we still share.

Lyrics
(Ma?am I Wasn?t Looking at You I was Looking for)
Beaver
By Scott Wilcox
I grew up in a little bitty town in the heartland
Try to grow up in Wisconsin and call yourself a bluesman
I was lucky to find some friends that would take me
The kind of group of guys that would never forsake me
My best friend?s mamma, she?s calls him the Beaver
She says she doesn?t know why, but we don?t believe her
We always liked him anyway but it was so embarrassin? to say.
Ma?am I wasn?t looking for you, I was looking for Beaver.
I took my buddies down to, oh down to Mobile
After 9 months of winter you don?t know how good the sun feels.
I stick my feet into the hot sand, a woman comes by all oily and tan and I say I wasn?t looking at you I was looking for Beaver.
CHORUS
There was Scotty, Biff and Wally Melvin and Beav
The greatest group of guys that you ever did see
When it comes to buddies I?m a believer
cause ma?am I wasn?t looking at you I was looking for Beaver.
So It?s like ten years later and I call him on the telephone
It keeps on ringin and ringin I?m thinking nobody's home
Finally his wife she gets on the line amd she says
I?m sorry he ain?t home at this time and I say
I wasn?t looking for you, no I wasn?t looking for you
I was looking for Beaver
BRIDGE
BEAVER I usually start looking at the nearest bar yeah,
Looking for Beaver
