Story Behind The Song

Pacini was regarded as one of the most gifted and productive Italian composers of his generation. From his first opera Federico II o il Barone di Dolsheim (1818) an Opera semiseria - comes the Duo version of the Soprano Aria "Cara, adorata immagine". It was first performed at La Scala with a further 47 performances there followed by performances in many other opera houses around Italy. This was the beginning of his rapidly growing success. That a duo version of this opera even exists is due to a common and widespread house music tradition among the noble Italian families at this time. This early Pacini opera still shows much of Rossini's influence.
