Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist. I write mainly in the contemporary acoustic style, however, my love of blues and contemporary rock seems to rise to the surface regularly and I'm more that happy to go with that. I suppose that I see myself as a songwriter first and foremost, but I do enjoy the whole process of recording and performing with all the many and varied highs and lows that come with it.
Technically, the albums have grown with recording technology innovation (some would say cheating!) but hopefully, the songs will speak for themselves and stay true to their acoustic, sofa based origins.
If there are any songwriters, muso types working in this genre anywhere near me (Stamford Lincs) and you want to get in touch.....please do. If you're interested in performing then thats good too! (am I coming across as a bit needy?).

Hello

Hi,
The thing is, I never really know what to say in these sections. I have noticed however, that other people use the 'third person' approach, so here goes...John Evans is a good bloke who loves to play guitar and write songs... is that any good? I suppose I could throw in some quotes for good measure..."makes a great dovetail joint" (The Woodworker june 97), "always cleans up after his dog" (puppy weekly Sept 04), "He still owes me a fiver" (anon).
I suppose that what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't really matter where I was born or what my hobbies are. All I'm asking is that you listen to the songs with an open mind and if you don't like them, then thanks for your time. If you do, (and you know some big wig in the music biz, then please run off and tell him/her right now!) then get in touch, I'd love to hear what you think.
Well, that's about it....oh, by the way, I'm into naked stamp collecting and the history of flavoured jelly!.

Hi John, thx for nice review of Sweet Summertime. Funny how I have gotten 3 random reviews from you in last couple of weeks, but I sure appreiciate it and am honored. Your recommendations are spot on. In fact, the story right not is that it is kind of a prototype at the moment and i plan to take it down soon, just wanted to get some feedback fot it. I could not play the guitar in proper meter. So my producer put piano music in proper meter and I played to that, however, that made my guitar sound mechanical and not as natural. Then when it was mixed, because the guitar is not that great, the piano and other instruments are more prominent. My feeling, and others too, is that is works best if it is a guitar song, coffee house style, and maybe some other instruments sprinkled lightly in to enhance. I am working on redoing the guitar with proper meter and to sound better and then it should accomplish that. If not, I my hire a better guitarist to handle that. The male vocals are mine, and again you are spot on. I think my vocals are too prominent, and in fact, i am leaning toward bringing in a better male vocalist for the background vocals. Hopefully the female vocals are good. I think some of her lyrics are not that clear. So all in all, will redo the song, but glad to see you like the song itself, just production and arrangement need some work. Thx.

Hi Mate, actually I think your vocal is great, I think it just needs to blend a little more with the female vox. It's a good song and I look forward to hearing what you do with it. Stay safe and good luck. John.
