Story Behind The Song
This is my late Father, Lester Norton. He recorded this song at age 83, 3 years before his death. I can't express how fortunate I am to have been able to write music & record with him. He continued to write almost every day until the day he died.

Lyrics
you have been gracious
Lord you have been kind
you've given me more than my share
through all of my trials & great tribulations
my burdens you promised to share
all my sins have been duly forgiven
& I have no cause for dispair
take my soul to be with you in Heaven
for Lord I want to go there
take me home, take me home
for Lord I want to go there
soon I will sit on my front porch in Glory
& rock in my new rockin' chair
& gaze at the beauty of Gods' Holy city
there's nothing down here to compare
I'll be happy to meet all my neighbors
whose beautiful stories we'll share
I can't wait to sing with the Angels
oh Lord I want to go there
take me home, take me home
for Lord I want to go there
I want to walk through the streets of that city
that Christ has gone to prepare
there's going to be a great celebration
joy bells will ring in the air
I'll see my loved ones
who've gon on before me
that Jesus has kept in his care
as I wait for those that I leave behind me
oh Lord I want to go there
take me home, take me home
for Lord I want to go there
take me home, take me home
Lord I want to go there
