Thousand Headlights

Story Behind The Song

Watching television one night, and flipping channels. The thought occurred to me, that with all these channels, there's nothing worth watching, so I took a drive to clear my mind and renew my spirit. Ironically, I don't even have cable, only rabbit ears, and still there's nothing worth watching.

Song Description

Man is restless and watching TV, and he realizes he needs a change, and an escape, so he hits the highway. The highway is the place where he feels most alive.

Lyrics

THOUSAND HEADLIGHTS
by Scott Aycock (copyright 2002)

Moon shines full in the sky tonight
Two hundred stations on the satellite.
Nothing worth watching that will make things right
I'm gonna have to hit the road tonight.
BRIDGE-
Life becomes like a long black night
Coming at you are a thousand headlights.

A thousand headlights won't set things straight
Or driving fast down the interstate.
Some things are give and take
And other things are meant to break
Bridge
I don't care what anyone thinks
When I'm driving fast, down the interstate.

Windows rolled down and the radio's on
Kicking out some hard luck song
Can't remember what station I'm on
Somewhere on the dial out of San Antoine
Bridge
By the morning I'll make LA.
A thousand headlights won't get in my way.

A thousand headlights and a long black night
I know won't make things right
If I don't stop or lose my way
I'll make it through to another day.
Bridge-
Cuz I'm one more soul on the road tonight
I'm just one in a thousand headlights.

Repeat 1st vs

Repeat Refrain: A thousand headlights, a thousand headlights, and fade out.
