I'm Angry

Story Behind The Song

There was a bar on south Cicero Avenue in Chicago(Cicero) that I used to pass all the time on my way to Champaign, Il. Never did go in there. But I imagined that inside there was a bluesman - maybe Bo Diddley or Howlin Wolf playing the blues. And I was angry - angry that the government could find a way to pay for fighting wars in places we'd never ever go - and not paying to help people right here in Chicago. I also remembered an old 78 that my mom used to play on her 1950's phonograph. It had a feel very similar to shake, rattle and roll. And the rest is hhistory...

Song Description

Recorded in an old house on the north side of Champaign, Illinois in the early 1970's. The house has long since succumbed to the wrecker's ball, and the performance was all but lost to time - but it survived on an old two track reel to reel recorder. Mike Ditka once identified this as one of his favorite tracks of ours. And we agree. It's anger with a lot of fun.

Lyrics

I'm Angry
And now coming to you from the Gay Dragon,

I'm Angry, Well I'm Angry

I don't need no judge and jury to tell me right from wrong if they ask you where I've gone to, just tell them that I'm gone
I don't need no United Nations to see the world's a mess if they ask you where I've gone to, just tell them that I left
I don't need no ABM missle to help me keep the piece Better spend my 20 billion dollars and maybe wars will cease

Well I found out now I found I'm an angry man
But I found out now Found I'm an angry man
Well I found out now Found I'm an angry man

Well I found out just in time honey Found I'm an angry man
Well I found out just in time honey Found I'm an angry man
Well I found out just in time I Found I'm an angry man

Lets go out.....

I gotta shake, rattle and roll
I gotta shake, rattle and roll
I gotta shake, rattle and roll
I gotta shake, rattle and roll
You never do nothing to save your dog gone soul.
