Rachel

Story Behind The Song

This song was written for my daughter Rachel. I lost contact with her and I never knew why. I haven't heard from her in over 12 years. The opening suggests her personality, which, as I recall, was lovable, but readily changed to "cross". The second portion of the piece represents my impression of her general nature, i.e., the light piano work details her childhood at the time. My electric guitar figures represent me watching over her to make sure she was always safe. The song mood then matures in as much that both she and I are carrying a conversation. You can detect that through the use of a '74 Stratocaster (me) and a '98 Ibanez S Classic (her). Again, the conversation between guitars is not sonically perfect. That is a deliberate touch and represents the difficulty of being a parent. Perhaps she'll read this one day and realize how much I love her and miss her.
