Story Behind The Song
I discovered the original version of this work in Broadjam's annual 6pack. I was immediately inspired to reach out to Doug and Sundown Sessions Studio about changing the format to "potentially cater to the opening credits of a Bond film." The session was then provided by Sundown Sessions Studio in glorious form. Full stems right down to individual drums (accompanied by midi for the sequenced performances as well). They made the experience super easy for me to shift formats in intelligent ways.
The session was then reimagined & produced here at Protilius after which.
Highlights include a lush orchestral foundation, classic spy rock elements, accompanied by a stellar vocal performance. It is truely an experience that "took a team" to produce.
Thank you for listening!

Lyrics
If I open wide to let you look inside,
Then I'd spill the moments I've contained in every cell,
So I'll keep the door shut tight.
The burden that I carry deep within my soul,
Is the island that I've come to call my home.
And i can't let you inside to see the pain I feel.
It's the only thing I truly call my own.
It's my own.
Don't look in my eyes for anything but lies,
Any truth's been hidden and covered with denial,
So it can't be recognized.
The burden that I carry deep within my soul,
Is the island that I've come to call my home.
And i can't let you inside to see the pain I feel.
It's the only thing I truly call my own.
It's my own.
The burden that I carry deep within my soul,
Is the island that I've come to call my home.
And i can't let you inside to see the pain I feel.
It's the only thing I truly call my own.
It's my own.
