We Finally See Beyond

Story Behind The Song

Explaining the story behind the song can deflate the impact of poetic expression. Not being lazy, I just want listeners to immerse themselves without any bias. Part of the beauty of music is its ability to allow you to make it your own. It truly is what you want and need it to be personally. So...while I want to leave interpretations to the listener, Broadjam's categories of "relationship" and "existence" are appropriate :)

Song Description

"With its tasty middle eastern-inspired melodic flourishes and wholly unique creative approach, Nathan Totten's 'We Finally See Beyond' is a deeply refreshing and wonderfully adventurous piece of alternative rock that makes great use of its contrasting genre inspirations to serve up a profoundly enjoyable and compelling listening experience that elegantly ebbs and flows between its distinct ideas with striking maturity. The incorporation of middle eastern-inspired melodies is certainly a highlight of the songwriting and isn't what you would normally expect in a predominately alternative rock styled track, but this subversion of genre expectations works perfectly in this context and the potent dashes of these harmonic and melodically exotic ideas goes a long way into helping 'We Finally See Beyond' set itself apart. The performances across the board are very strong indeed, the track's many riffs and melodic hooks are played with both the utmost precision and feeling whilst the vocals possess excellent tonal and dynamic control, ensuring the lyrics are conveyed in an as expressive and effective way as possible. Nathan Totten has done a brilliant job of fusing elements of alternative rock, metal, and world music together to create a thoroughly engaging track that places a firm focus on how to make its arrangement as alluring as possible." -- Radio Airplay

Lyrics

There's so much I don't know about you
But I'm enjoying every little clue
You know exactly what I go through
But somehow you still want to know me, too

You don't always show yourself this way
I won't forget that you did today

And I know it won't be long
Before we're exactly where we belong
In a little cabin with a fire on

And the snow is falling on us
And we don't think about what went wrong
And we finally see beyond

There's so much that I love about you
And I don't have to give you any clues
You know exactly what I go through
But that's not why I keep coming back to you

You didn't have to show yourself this way
I won't forget that you did today

And I know it won't be long
Before we're exactly where we belong
In a little cabin with a fire on

And the snow is falling on us
And we don't think about what went wrong
And we finally see beyond

It's a hit and it is prime for tv and film! Great for a Brad Pit movie like "The Mexican" or Once upon a time in Hollywood!

Interesting intro, has kind of an eastern vibe. Nice that it reoccurs thru the tune. Great production and vocals.

This is a really cool and unique love song. One of the reasons I like it is the approach to the guitar...kind of a melding of rock and Spanish guitar. Add in these driving punchy accent beats that are expertly placed and you have a highly original song. I like the lyrics, too. The emphasis on the relationship isn't just sex...it's more of an understanding and accepting of each other. Great word picture: cabin with the fire on. You all did a fantastic job on this track. Really tight and expert production!
