LAST RITES... (The Power of the Dog)

Story Behind The Song

The Last Rites, the sacrament which are to be given by a Catholic Priest to the soon to be dead and dying has an expression, "Fight! Fight, Against Death, The Power of the Dog." That title was also used in the Best Picture Winner, the movie "The Power of the Dog" with Benedict Cumberbatch, a western that doesn't explain the meaning of the title of the film until the last 5 minutes. "Power of the Dog," therefore is a strong metaphor for Death, in all its manifestations.
