Story Behind The Song
Loosely based on a relationship that a friend of mine was in. The phrase "Open Arms and Brass Knuckles" just popped into my head while talking to some friends on a camping trip.
Song Description
"Friends in Low Places"-type. After being dumped, a man has a unique, new outlook on life. Sadness and anger going hand in hand in this case.

Lyrics
I feel hungover again even though I quit drinkin' a month ago.
This headache's from all the cryin' I've done, but I don't want you to know.
They say because it didn't kill me, I should be stronger man.
I thought they were right, so I started a fight -
I guess nothing goes as planned.
I'm hangin' up my hat, my boots, my trophies, and belt buckles.
I greet the world with open arms -
Open arms and brass knuckles.
It was this time last year we both stood right here
and we said just how we feel.
The more we say certain things out loud
I guess the more we think they're real.
You took the salt-shaker and the broken coffee maker,
my heart, some money, and my pride
But you left me a big brand new lie detector
that I keep bottled up inside.
I'm hangin' up my hat, my boots, my trophies, and belt buckles.
I greet the world with open arms -
Open arms and brass knuckles.
I wake up in the best damn mood
Slap a smile upside my face.
Well I got burned, but the lessons I learned
won't let that time we had go to waste.
I feel hungover again even though I quit cryin' an hour ago.
This headache's from all the drinks yet to come
but I wanted you to know
That I'm hangin' up my hat, my boots, my trophies, and belt buckles.
I greet the world with open arms -
Open arms and brass knuckles.
I greet the world with open arms -
Open arms and brass knuckles.
