Story Behind The Song
For six years I worked as a secondary school resource teacher. I worked exclusively with teens diagnosed with autism. This song is about and for them. The quirkiness of music is meant to reflect the often unusual perspective of someone living with autism. The lyrics are meant to reflect the daily challenges many of them face in attempting to navigate the world. Support Autism Ontario!

Lyrics
It's Alright
A funny thing happened 'bout 8:49
Alarm bells ringing - time to shake up my mind
Jagged conversations rolling round in my head
I can't understand a single thing that's been said
But it's alright...it's okay
Gonna make it through another day
And I'll be on my way
I get so tired of living close to the ground
Drop down sinking feeling dragging me down
Like a giant elevator pointing straight to the sky
I get so angry I don't even know why
But it's alright it's alright
Gonna make it through another night
Embrace the morning light
Chorus
Stormy weather never drags me down
I got my bearings, got my feet on the ground
I gotta be strong, keep singing my song
I'm moving along, though I might be wrong
It's alright
I hear loud bells ringing every morning at eight
I'm stuck in the driver's seat, I must not be late
Everybody's laughing and I never even know why
Somebody wants to help me but I just want to cry
I get so tired of living close to the ground
Drop down sinking feeling dragging me down
I keep to myself because I can't understand
Why nobody listens when I tell them my plan
