Elated

Story Behind The Song

Inspired by the positive vibes of 90's pop-punk music, Elated was born out of a simple guitar riff in E major. Written from the perspective of an older person looking to the next generation, it is a reminder of how fleeting life can be and the power of togetherness and love. Elated became the fourth track on Alien Mustache's(Matthew C. Bauder's sometimes used alias)self released album, "Escalation".

Song Description

Driven by a simple beat, crunchy, catchy guitar riffs and endearing male vocals, Elated is an energetic pop-rock song about an older person being reminded of the possibilities in life by looking through the eyes of a younger person of the next generation as well as being there to let them know just how fleeting life can be and how to live it to the fullest through the power of love and togetherness.

Lyrics

Verse 1

When I was younger I used to do the things you do.
Now that I'm older, I see myself in you.
Your sense of wonder and lack of any fear
Is my reminder with the passing of each year.

Chorus 1

The world is ours for the taking,
But there's plenty of earth for us to share.
The love you find lies in the making.
Don't ever be afraid to care.

Verse 2

Life slips away now much faster than you think.
Your youth has come and gone in the time it takes to blink.
So plan for the future, but live in the here and now.
'Cause time is a teacher, you gotta feel your way around this great big ball we call...

Chorus 2

The world is for the taking.
'Cause there's plenty of earth for us to share.
The love you find lies in the making.
Don't ever be afraid to dare.

Bridge

And all this time this great big world's been spinning around
We've only looked for things we thought that could be found
Now more than ever, the time has come for change.
Look with our hearts and live our dreams.

Verse 3

When I was younger I used to do the things you do.
Now that I'm older I can say this much is true.
Life, love and liberty are here for all to have.
Brought forth by unity, so let's throw away the past and then we'll find

Chorus 3

The world is ours for the taking.
'Cause there's plenty of earth for us to share.
The love you find lies in the making.
Let's have a world wide love affair.
The world is ours for the taking.
'Cause there's plenty of earth for us to share.
The love you find lies in the making.
Let's have a world wide love affair.
