Story Behind The Song
I wanted write an uplifting country song with vocal harmonies. Something reminiscent of the songs I heard growing up in the 1970s in the UK
Song Description
The song incorporates ideas from famous country songs including Patsy Cline - Crazy, Shania Twain - That don't impress me much, Kenny Rogers - don't take your love to town, Johnny Cash - Walk the line, Dolly Parton - Coat of many colours/The grass is blue, Loretta Lynn - Coal Miners daughter, Garth Brooks - Friends in low places, Bebe Rexha - Meant to be, Blake Shelton - Gods Country. It also touches on the fact that many country stars are from generations of music performers and plays on the stereotypical image of a cowboy i.e Stetson hat, blue jeans, riding a horse etc. Its written from the perspective of a woman who is completely removed from the 'Country music' scene, but is finding that after meeting the man of her dreams, who happens to be a cowboy, she would be prepared to embrace that lifestyle for the sake of love, even be prepared to learn how to line dance and ride a horse. The title is also related to the many country songs about whiskey, and how that seems to be the liquor of choice for drowning your sorrows in the genre of country music. The singer of the song is saying she would be happy to change many aspects of herself, but when it comes down to it she won't drink whiskey.

Lyrics
I'm not a country girl
I was born in the city
I don't have a coat of many colours,
Cos momma, she can't sew
I can't hold a country note
Never been to the Grand Ole Opry
My Daddy didn't work down the mine
And I don't like the rodeo
I've never been to Nashville,
Or Dollywood, Tennessee
There's no famous country stars
In my family tree
Chorus - But Baby I'm crazy about you
You're a country cowboy dream
I'm in love your big old Stetson hat
And your faded old blue jeans
I can't ride a horse,
But I'll ride one if you ride one with me
And I could be your country girl
Baby you gotta know ...I don't drink whiskey
I never had to walk the line
Or take my love to town
And it don't impress me much
That truck you drive around
Got no friends in high or low places,
Where I live, the grass ain't blue
I can't line dance to save my life
But I'll country dance with you
Never seen the Blue Ridge Mountains
Or Memphis, Tennessee
No rhinestone wearing kinfolk
In my ancestry
Chorus - But Baby I'm crazy about you
You're a country cowboy dream
I'm in love your big old Stetson hat
And your faded old blue jeans
I can't ride a horse
But I'll ride one if you ride one with me
And I could be your country girl
Baby you gotta know ...I don't drink whiskey
You're just a cowboy boy
God's country born and raised
Maybe this was meant to be
Hallelujah the Lord be praised
Chorus - Cos Baby I'm crazy about you
You're a country cowboy dream
I'm in love your big old Stetson hat
And your faded tight blue jeans
I can't ride a horse
But I'll ride one if you ride one with me
And I could be your country girl
Baby you gotta know ...I don't drink whiskey X2
