Looking Out (EP Version)

Story Behind The Song

A lot of the imagery here is inspired by the Monona Terrace in Madison, and looking out from where I was sitting outside on the edge of the building.(if you've been there, you'll know what I mean.) It reminds me of the quote that says "true love is not staring at each other, but looking out in the same direction." A relationship will never be perfect, but it's worth it as long as you support each other. Sometimes it not about looking for that dramatic, movie love, but appreciating the simplicity of the support that you've got.

Lyrics

i'm not asking you to marry me/ i'm just asking you to be/ something more than a memory/ of things i'll never see/ is there something in your face/ that tells me i'll never replace/ yeah we're fight/ and stay up all night/ when we got stuff to do in the morning/ yeah i'm gonna write/ a love song or two/ and talk about it when we do something wrong/ and i don't think i care/ if we can't hold off the rain/ cause at least we can hold each other/ at the end of the day/ i'm looking out for you, babe/ i'm looking out for you babe/ i'm not searching for the rockstar/ i need someone to make me feel that way/ and at the end of the day/ who will write a song with me/ and say "my god this is awful"/ and sing it anyway/ yeah we're fight/ and stay up all night/ when we got stuff to do in the morning/ yeah i'm gonna write/ a love song or two/ and talk about it when we do something wrong/ and i don't think i care/ if we can't hold off the rain/ cause at least we can hold each other/ at the end of the day/ it's about who feels right/ like a november night/ you don't know how it can be so scary and cozy at the same time/ and the lights on the water too perfect to be real/ but you can almost feel em/
