Story Behind The Song
I wrote the song after a divorce. Having worked 60 hrs a week .. rarely seeing my children, missing out on so much in their lives (and for what) 'unappreciated loyalties' both in my daily work and in my marriage ... 'God has to have more for me than this'... i decided to return to the rural life I knew as a child and to a community where family and faith are the cornerstones of daily life and loyalty means something.
Song Description
Tired of unappriciated loyalty ... tired of the noisy hustle and bussel of the city .... realizing children and peace are far more important and that something better awaits ... this time ... will be different and all the regrets will be met with change.

Lyrics
This Time
©2008 Janet Steely lyric & melody / Jason Kuhn musical arrangement
Time is short gotta make it count / ain't got time to ride this fast train
I'm goin' back to simpler times / gonna find my peace again
This time / oh ho / this time
Tired of rushing getting nowhere. Gonna slow down and make a memory or two
Gonna sip my coffee on the back porch swing / and watch the flowers bloom
This time / oh oh oh / this time
I don't miss the noise of the city streets / crowded smoggy freeway miles
Unappreciated loyalties / Lord I know you've more for me, "Sayin
This time oh ho this time / that's right
Gonna lay in the shade by the oak tree / and pray the hours away
Gonna ask the Lord for inspiration / and the strength for this new day
No more hurried conversations / gonna watch my babies while they're sleepin'
Gonna finally spend my time / on those that matter most
This time / yes / this time oh ho this time yeah
Good Lords given me one more chance / gonna help my children learn to dance
Play in the mud and swim in the creek / show them where to find their peace
This time, this time / yea yea yea this time oh oh this time yeah
(musical interlude)
Watchin' the grandfather clock in the hall / swing it's pendulum right and left
reminding me of the balance / well / that balance I want for myself
This time / this time / this time whoa ho this time oh ho yeah
