Story Behind The Song
Traveling from Baton Rouge north on the day that Katrina hit, these thoughts filled my head and then as Rita hit while no one was recovered from Katrina, the song took a whole new meaning for not only Louisiana, but the Gulf Coast.
Song Description
Hopeful, truthful look at 2005's hurricanes from the view point of someone who is a Louisiana native and has seen hurricanes come and go, but still stays on.

Lyrics
Got a full tank of gas
And four good tires
The wind at my back
And the water is rising
WeÂ?re gonna out run this storm
Everything that means
Anything to me
Is buckled right beside me
In the passenger seat
And they just hung out the sign New Orleans Closed
Chorus:
Cause thereÂ?s a hurricane
Out in the Gulf
And they swear sheÂ?s gonna be
The end of us
SheÂ?ll bring the wind
SheÂ?ll bring the rain
Blow down the houses
Wash the coast away
But weÂ?ll be fine
WeÂ?ll be fine
Cause life goes on
The girls of summer
Always break some hearts
But these girls
They tried to tear us apart
But they just couldnÂ?t break our Cajun souls
Now I got a generator
That sings me to sleep
And I got fish & shrimp
In my freezer to eat
It may not seem like much
But to me its gold
Chorus
My Grand Daddy remembers the days
When Camille and Audrey
Tried to blow us away
Things were tough
But you know they made it through
So weÂ?re gonna gather
WeÂ?re gonna pray
And together weÂ?ll rebuild
It all one day
And one day weÂ?ll be telling our grandkids too
Chorus
