Story Behind The Song
The song was written for Palms Sunday. As Jesus rides back into Jerusalem at this height of his ministry, the people are going crazy for him. The Pharasees, getting nervous, tell Jesus to quiet the mob. He replies that if they could be silenced, the rocks themselves would sing. So, I made it a rock song. A song of praise...in surrender to the Lord.
Song Description
Lift your palms up and close your eyes. How did it make you feel? Did you feel small, possible vulnerable, subserviant? It is said you can surrender without a prayer, but never really pray without surrender. I think that's a very good thing.

Lyrics
Palms Up
Everybody tells me what I'm doing and where I'm going.
Everybody sells me what they've got to sell.
When the world is weighing on me and I don't know what to do.
I turn my head to heaven. I turn my back on hell.
I turn my Palms Up, just like Jesus did.
I turn my Palms Up...when the laid him down upon that cross.
He went Palms Up...in surrender to the Lord,
as they nailed him to the boards.
And this is how my savior gave it up....with Palms Up.
When He came into Jerusalem, as the Holy Gospel goes,
they lay before his path palm branches in the road.
And when the world and the trial were weighing down on Him,
the palms that they put down did not deter him
From turning Palms Up. My Jesus did.
He turned his Palms Up...when the laid Him down upon that cross.
He went Palms Up...in surrender to the Lord
as they nailed Him to the boards.
And this is how my savior gave it up...with Palms Up.
So, so, so if you're feeling lonely. Feeling kinda down.
This world can get so heavy, don'tcha know, it starts to wear you down.
If you're feeling left out, knocked down, kicked out,
there's a place where you can go.
Lift your head, lift your hands...lift them to the Lord.
Get your Palms Up. Like Jesus did.
Lift your Palms Up. When they laid Him down upon that cross.
He went Palms Up. (check it out)
Deny yourself, take up your cross.
Follow the example, give it up.
Lift your hands...lift them to the Lord.
Get your Palms Up.
When your times up.
Oooh, the gig's up.
Get your Palms Up!
