Song Description
"Somnium", is Latin for Dream / The Dream.
Johannes Kepler (German astronomer, mathematician, and astrologer) wrote a novel in 1608, not published until 1634. It is a story about a boy's imaginative description of how the planet Earth might look when viewed from Luna (our Moon). This story is considered, by many scientific experts, to be one of the first works of science fiction.
Kepler was a key figure in the 17th-century scientific revolution, known for his laws of planetary motion, and whose works provided one of the foundations for Newton's theory of universal gravitation.
This video and music are a tribute to Johannes Kepler for his accomplishments in science and mathematics, and for his great imagination to write the novel "Somnium".
