Earth River © (was #1 Broadjam: New Age-Religious)

Story Behind The Song

In several ways, "Earth River", is MY "Stairway To Heaven"....only it takes place on the river of life. It was written back in 1970. This song has several different dynamic sections and movements embedded in its structure and will really take you "up and down river" as the song BUILDS. This is a poetic song about the intertwining nature of each of our "river of life" and how we are really dependent upon each other in life and love. This is not really a Top 40 type tune with typical structure, It much more free form like a classical tune. It is a love song not only about relationships and support but how love is intertwined into our daily lives.

I'll be the river, hold you when the ice is thin
I'll be the river, come and drink me in
Me down here and you up on the bridge
Filling me up with your tears, yeah, filling me up with tears
Let go and fall in my arms and we will drift to the sea
Where the winds will lift you up and set your troubles free

Sometimes we're blind
Even when we try to see
Sometimes we're blind
Sometimes when we're wandering
And overwhelmed by the unknown
And you think that you're invisible
When you're lost and all alone
You need the river heading home
When you're lost and all alone
You need the river heading home
So, I'll be the river hold you when the ice is thin
I'll be the river come and drink me in

Our growing lights are growing sites
That eat at the strings and they feed the night
The earth she buries and carries
The earth she buries and carries
Are we coming or going around?
Are we coming or going around?

Life's a circle that just keeps spinning
Sometimes we lose and wind up winning
Celebrate all the new beginnings
Celebrate all the never endings
We've got to celebrate the coming and going
All the ebbing and all of the flowing
When we're laughing when we're crying
When we're living or when we're dying
Celebrate forgiveness and love
And the all blessings that come from above
When we're singing and when we're dancing
When we find love and sweet romancing
Celebrate when we're kneeling and praying
When we're dreaming or when we're playing
Celebrate all the new beginnings
Celebrate all the never endings

So, let go and fall in my arms and we will drift to the sea
