Story Behind The Song
I wrote a poem years back and somebody said they liked it but it would never work as a song. They may be right.

Lyrics
Summertime
Here's to the Summers that used to be
A tribute to all that we've been
Running so free through the summer time breeze
Believin' that a friend was a friend
Knowing the World just won't pass us by
As we're floating along with the tide
As the Summertime
Fried
But the time goes by and the Summer times pass
Much to our mutual chagrin
No longer free to be you and me
In this World of so much pretend
Watching the World as it slowly glides by
Each standing and waiting in line
For the Summertime
Ride
I stand in the line and I wait with the rest
For the magic that it used to bring
I'd trade all I have and all I will be
For those moments of freedom again
For we saved the World and we loved one and all
And we watched as the sun slid away
From the Summertime
Days
Now some say it's true that the Summertime's gone
But deep in my soul 'neath the scars
Are short burning beaches
And girls of my dreams
And long happy nights 'neath the stars
Here's to the friends that stand by me still
For each of them may there still be
A Summertime
Dream
