Georgia Boy

Story Behind The Song

This song was a conversation I had with a friend. he was from New York and lived in the city part most of his life. he moved to Georgia and loved it. As he was telling me all the things he loved about Georgia, I had the chorus running through my mind. I took that conversation and made it into a song.

Song Description

I wrote the lyrics and the very talented Jeff graham wrote the melodies.

Lyrics

Georgia Boy at Heart
(Amy Abernathy 2014)

Me and the fellas taking a ride ride,
Idle chatter and wasting time.
Flirting with the hottie in the pickup truck.
George straight all cranked up.
Miles and miles of back country roads.
Where we'll end up, nobody knows.
Fishing, the Brave's games, or the varsity.
North of Atlanta is where you'll find me.

(Chorus)
I may be from New York City,
But I'm a Georgia boy at heart,
I feel at home in the country,
Cruz I'm a Georgia boy at heart.

Headed to the braves game,
Hope it don't start to rain,
So we can do the tomahawk chop,
Good times going nonstop.
Going down to my favorite mud hole,
Bring a cold drink and our fishing poles.
Burgers on the grill and apple pie.
Shooting the breeze and watching fireflies.

(Chorus)
I may be from New York City,
But I'm a Georgia boy at heart,
I feel at home in the country,
Cruz I'm a Georgia boy at heart.

I love the small town country life,
Church on Sundays and family at night...
We still pray and that's ok.
We work hard and love to play.
Friday night spent with friends,
Camping out to the night's end.
Plenty of time to sit and fish,
Or play foot ball with the kids..

(Chorus)
I may be from the big city,
But I'm a southern boy at heart,
I feel at home in the country,
Cuz I'm a southern boy at heart.

(Bridge)
I won't go back
Because I've gone country now.
Oh yeah, I'm a Georgia boy now.

(Chorus)
I may be from the big city,
But I'm a southern boy at heart,
I feel at home in the country,
Cuz I'm a southern boy at heart.
