Bridge of Sighs

Story Behind The Song

In the Venice of earlier days, prisoners would cross this covered bridge from the courthouse in the Doge's palace to the prison. Legend has it that people could hear the prisoners sighing as they peered through the window at the beautiful and serene island of San Giorgio - perhaps for the last time. Thus the Bridge of Sighs.
