Lyrics
Way up North, a home came forth
A hundred years ago
Great Grandpa homesteaded some land
Little did he know that
The house he built with his own two hands
And the farm that?s it?s become
Would be the home of five generations
And where I come from
WHERE I COME FROM, THE PAST ISN?T DONE. BREAD IS STILL BAKED FRESH AND THE COFFEE?S ALWAYS ON. GRANDPA WORKED THE SAME SOIL THAT GREAT GRANDPA DID. WHERE ROOTS RUN DEEP, THE LAND WILL KEEP MY HEART FOREVERMORE.
In the spring, the meadowlarks sing
And the crocuses bloom
Cattle are moved to the big pasture
The crops will be in soon
It?s been this way for a hundred years
And I hope a million more
I?m proud to say I grew up this way
It?s where I long for
WHERE I COME FROM, THE PAST ISN?T DONE. BREAD IS STILL BAKED FRESH AND THE COFFEE?S ALWAYS ON. DADDY WORKS THE SAME SOIL THAT GREAT GRANDPA DID. WHERE ROOTS RUN DEEP, THE LAND WILL KEEP MY HEART FOREVERMORE.
INSTRUMENTAL
In that house, that old farmhouse
There are little ones growin? up
They will come to love that land
And the wheat that rises up
The memories of our family
And the way of life there
Are being passed down to them
They, too, can say where?
WHERE I COME FROM, THE PAST ISN?T DONE. BREAD IS STILL BAKED FRESH AND THE COFFEE?S ALWAYS ON. DADDY WORKS THE SAME SOIL THAT GREAT GRANDPA DID. WHERE ROOTS RUN DEEP, THE LAND WILL KEEP MY HEART FOREVERMORE
