Diana Robinson Plays the Music of Marian McPartland

Most people know Marian McPartland more from her many jazz recordings and her long-running Piano Jazz National Public Radio program than for her many compositions. Marian has collaborated with an astonishing catalog of lyricists including Loonis McGlohon, Irving Caesar, Peggy Lee and Johnny Mercer, to name a few. Her best-known tunes include "Twilight World" (lyrics by Johnny Mercer, sung by Tony Bennett) and "In the Days of Our Love" (lyrics by Peggy Lee, sung by Cleo Laine). Her composition, "Threnody," was written for pianist Mary Lou Williams. Harmonically sophisticated, yet extremely moving, Marian's tunes provide a wide range of musical material for performers and arrangers. Diana's arrangements and performances were recorded on a Macintosh G5 using Cubase SX, MOTU 896HD, Stylus RMX, Fxpansion's BFD, Miroslav Philharmonic VST, Spectrasonics Trilogy, a Kurzweil K2000R and a Yamaha P120 keyboard controller.
