Gordon, Ellis & Steel was formed in the 1970's in London, and spent a decade writing songs and gigging. They signed a deal with Mushroom Records and recorded an album. Due to financial problems, the record label closed down before the album was released. Over time, the original tapes were lost.
In 2017 the band made contact with former Mushroom owner Vic Keary and discovered the original tapes still existed. Cherry Red Records, who had by now acquired the Mushroom back catalogue, released the album in 2018. Looking Forward Thinking Back has received glowing revues.
