Story Behind The Song
This is a total rewrite of a song I wrote for my church in 2008 and would play solo accompanied by acoustic guitar in the vein of Blind Willie Johnson. In the studio, I had already recorded the drum part and the bass lines over the scratch track which was guitar and vocals, when I decided to jam along with some synths partly for fun and partly to see what would unfold. By the end of the session, the song had taken a new direction which interested me so all I had left was the guitar tracks and vocals.
I think part of the beauty of songs are the way they lend to "interpretation".
A big part of the "magic" of studio work which I love is the flow of the creative process which becomes as integral to the building up of the song as the initial melody and lyrics.
