Story Behind The Song
This song was written for my Harmony 3 class final project at Berklee College of Music. I wrote it about 2 days before it was due and immediately tracked the instruments. I was seeing the painting "The Terrace St. Tropez" by Matisse a lot in my head as I was writing it, hence the title.
Song Description
This song is a bossa-nova piece that is meant to evoke images of tiki torches on the beach watching a woman in flowing white dance barefoot across the sand under the tropical sunset. It features a minimalist compositional technique in the melody for the A section before breaking out into a very Stan Getz/Jobim-like melody for the B section.
