Story Behind The Song
I imagined a 20 something guy in New York who had been estranged from his father since his mid teens. He is disheveled, bearded, alcoholic, living on the streets with nothing to his name. He sees his father riding the subway and shares a drink with him and all the while, the father has no recognition of his own son. He reflects on his own youth and his perception of his father.

Lyrics
Son of a rich
Oh Wall street man, we sit on the subway
Would you trade your tie for my rags for a day
Just for the feeling of nothing left to lose
And the kiss from the vapor of your last sip of booze
Cause the kiss from your wife and children was sweet
But quickly forgotten, when the egos would meet
Vacations you had would be better spent alone
Cause all your son learned, was how to talk on the phone
How many memories can you fit in that case
You jumped through the hoops but it knocked your
Spine out of place
Wall street man, with a wall around your head
It took 5 star meals to keep your ego fed
How long did you last at the top of your game
Before some 20 something put your efforts to shame
Multitasskissing was your specialty
Rendered obsolete, when the rats took to sea
Oh wall street man, you said you were doing God's work
But if God had a conscience, you'd be down in the dirt
How many memories can you fit in that case
You jumped through the hoops but it knocked your
Spine out of place
Wall street man, with a wall around your head
It took 5 star meals to keep your ego fed
How can I know this, how can I know what you think
Cause we both share our memories at the bottom of a drink
You'd recognize the voice but can you recognize the face
See I am the son that would not take your place
